You know what’s funny about Seville? Everyone obsesses over staying near the cathedral, but honestly, the real magic happens when you duck into those narrow side streets where locals actually live. That’s exactly where you’ll find Abades Giralda Deluxe – tucked away on Calle Abades like some kind of well-kept secret that somehow earned a 9.2 rating without trying too hard.
I mean, the location alone is pretty ridiculous. You’re literally a two-minute stumble from the Giralda tower (hence the name, I guess), but you’re on this quiet little street that most tourists completely miss. The building itself has that perfectly weathered Sevillian look – you know, the kind where you can’t tell if it’s 200 or 400 years old, and honestly, it doesn’t matter because it just works. Walking in, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about the details. The lobby isn’t trying to impress you with marble and chandeliers; instead, it’s got this warm, almost residential feel with traditional tiles and ironwork that feels authentic rather than theme-park Spanish.
The rooms – well, they’re what you’d hope for in a four-star place, but with some genuine character. Mine had these original wooden shutters that actually blocked out the morning light (crucial for those late flamenco nights), and the bathroom had proper water pressure, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in these historic buildings. What really got me was the attention to soundproofing. Calle Abades gets its share of evening foot traffic, especially when people are wandering between the cathedral area and the Santa Cruz neighborhood, but inside? Pretty peaceful. The air conditioning actually works too, which – trust me – matters a lot during those brutal July afternoons when Seville turns into an actual oven.
Here’s the thing about this part of town that I love: you’re close enough to all the major sites that you could literally see the cathedral from some of the upper floor windows, but you’re also surrounded by places where locals actually eat and drink. There’s this tiny tapas bar around the corner on Calle Mateos Gago that doesn’t even have a proper sign, and a little grocery store two blocks down where you can grab water and snacks without paying tourist prices. The staff seemed to know all these spots too – not in that rehearsed concierge way, but like they actually live in the neighborhood and have opinions about where to get the best jamón.
Parking’s always a nightmare in this part of Seville (fair warning), but they can arrange something nearby, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need a car anyway. Everything’s walkable, and when it gets too hot, you can just pop back to your room for a siesta like a proper Sevillano. The whole experience feels less like staying in a hotel and more like borrowing a friend’s really nice apartment in the best possible location – which, now that I think about it, might be exactly what they were going for.

Super location (next to cathedral, main castle and restaurants, excellent staff (Nahia checked us in and was a pleasure), very clean and generally great apartment with lots of character and charm.

Perfect location, steps away from the Cathedral. Very high ceilings on the first floor, comfortable and big living room. Very clean. Beautiful and characteristic entrance to the apartment. Bedroom on the first floor is with two separate beds, while main bedroom is on the second, each one with its own bathroom. We have enjoyed our stay here!
