Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels in Seville, and the Acanthus caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know how some places just feel right the moment you walk in? This is one of those spots. It’s tucked away on Calle Rafael Calvo – and honestly, if you’re not looking for it, you might walk right past. But that’s actually part of its charm. You’re literally in the heart of the old town here, I mean really in it, not just claiming to be nearby like some places do.

The building itself has this gorgeous Andalusian character that makes you feel like you’re staying in someone’s beautifully renovated family home rather than a hotel. The lobby has these traditional tiles and ironwork details that you’ll spend way too much time photographing, but the rooms are surprisingly modern without feeling sterile. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays despite being so central – you can hear the occasional clip-clop of horse carriages on the cobblestones below, but it’s more charming than disruptive. The staff actually knows the neighborhood, too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is. They sent me to this tiny tapas place around the corner that I never would have found otherwise, and it ended up being one of my best meals in the city.

Here’s the thing about the location – you can walk to basically everything that matters in about ten minutes. The Cathedral? Five minute stroll. Real Alcázar? Same. But you’re also close enough to the newer parts of the city that you’re not stuck in tourist bubble land. I will say, parking can be a bit of a nightmare if you’re driving (welcome to Seville’s old town), but there’s a public garage a few blocks away that won’t completely break the bank. The 8.6 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything works well and feels thoughtful. The breakfast is solid, the wifi actually works in the rooms, and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a freight train, which honestly puts it ahead of half the places I’ve stayed in southern Spain. If you want to feel like you’re really staying in Seville rather than just visiting it, this is your spot.
