Hotel Description

You know what surprised me most about Alisé Apartments Tetuán? It’s tucked away on Calle Jovellanos in this incredibly quiet pocket of Seville’s old town, but you’re literally a five-minute walk from the buzzing tapas scene around Plaza de Armas. I mean, you get the best of both worlds – you can stumble home after a late night exploring the bars near the river, but you’re sleeping in this peaceful residential street where the only sound you’ll hear in the morning is maybe someone’s grandmother heading to the market.

The apartments themselves feel more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than a typical hotel. Each one’s got its own personality – mine had these gorgeous original tile floors (the kind that stay cool even in August heat) and windows that actually open wide enough to let in a proper breeze. The kitchen isn’t just for show either; there’s a decent-sized fridge and everything you need to make breakfast, which honestly saved me a fortune since Seville’s café prices can add up fast. What I really appreciated was how they’ve kept the building’s character intact – thick walls, high ceilings, that sort of authentic Andalusian vibe – while making sure the WiFi actually works and the shower has proper pressure. The check-in was smooth too, though fair warning: like most places in the old town, there’s no parking right outside, but there’s a public garage about two blocks away on Calle Resolana that’s not too painful price-wise.

Here’s the thing about the location that took me a day or two to fully appreciate – you’re positioned perfectly to explore Seville like locals do, not tourists. Instead of being stuck in the super crowded Santa Cruz area where every other person is holding a selfie stick, you’re in Tetuán where you’ll actually hear Spanish being spoken on the street corners. The morning walk to get coffee takes you past this fantastic little bakery (Panadería San Telmo – their olive oil cake is ridiculous), and you’re close enough to the river that you can jog along the Guadalquivir if that’s your thing. The Cathedral and Alcázar are still walkable, maybe fifteen minutes at a leisurely pace, but you’re not dealing with tour groups congregating outside your front door at 8 AM. Plus, and this might sound random, but the neighborhood has character – kids playing fútbol in the small plaza nearby, old men debating politics outside the corner bar, that authentic neighborhood rhythm that makes you feel like you’re actually experiencing Seville rather than just visiting it. At 8.4 rating for a 4-star place, it feels like one of those spots that delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense.

    Host was amazing from the day of booking. Promptly answered all my questions. Very helpful. Check in was very easy. Apartment was clean, modern looking and in cental location. They provided some suggestions for eating and activities around.

    Amazing location and great communication with the staff! Very clean and lovely design.

    What could be improved: The shower is unpractical, there is no door so unfortunately, once you take a shower, the whole bathroom is soaked..
    Noise is a bit of an issue here, since it is in the middle of the shopping streets, it is a lovely location! Unfortunately, the noise is quite strong in the night.

    We were greeted by a nice friendly couple to hand over the keys which was lovely and welcoming and we were delighted with the location close to all the shops and walking distance to all the historic places. It was also really quiet at night.
    The kitchen has all items you could need and even an ironing board which proved useful.
    Comfy beds and comfy lounge seating.

    What could be improved: The decor in terms of soft furnishings, wall pictures and paint colour in bedrooms is quite outdated and could do with a bit of modernisation. The bedrooms have very bright ceiling lights and bedlights so could do with softer lighting in the form of nice lamps. But it was all still comfortable enough.

    The flat location is excellent, right in the middle of the city centre. In general mine and my family's stay was really pleasant. The bedrooms are huge and comfortable, like the beds; the decor is nice and the kitchenette is functional with all the necessary appliances working. The lift was also working and I was extremely happy with it as I chose the flat carefully because I travelled with my old gradama.

    What could be improved: The TV was broken then I've informed the owner straight away via booking and the owner was very nice as she replied and provided us with a new TV before we left. However the TV was delivered to the flat but it wasn't fixed and left in the box, therefore we couldn't use it. The main door of the building needs fixing as it doesn't close easily and it was left open all the time by guests in other accomodations.

    The staff went the extra mile to welcome us to the property (but not in person as we were led to expect) and provide us with lots of advance local information. The location was great with lots of eateries within a block or two of the apartment, and very convenient for the cathedral and other landmarks.

    What could be improved: Simple things were missing, such as trash bins and dishcloths. The beds were not very comfortable, and nor were the sofas. The single bathroom lacked anywhere to hang towels. It also lacked the advertised bath. Most of all, I didn't appreciate the shower that sprayed the water onto the bathroom floor, where it just collected in a pool by the door as the slope was away from the drain. I could go on, but you get the picture, I hope.
