Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Alohamundi Castilla I? It’s actually tucked away in Triana – not the main tourist strip everyone talks about, but the real Triana where locals still hang their laundry from wrought-iron balconies and you can hear actual conversations in Spanish drifting from corner bars. I mean, Calle Castilla isn’t exactly postcard famous, but honestly, that’s what makes this place work.

The hotel itself feels like someone took a traditional Sevillian building and gave it just enough of a modern makeover without losing its soul. The lobby’s got these gorgeous tiles – not the touristy azulejo knockoffs you see everywhere, but something that actually feels authentic. Check-in was refreshingly smooth (no weird deposit drama or confusing key card explanations), and the staff seemed genuinely happy to see guests rather than just going through the motions. My room was on the third floor, and here’s something you don’t always get in Seville’s historic buildings – the air conditioning actually worked properly, even during those brutal August afternoons when the city basically shuts down for siesta.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night. Triana can get lively – there’s this fantastic little tapas place about two blocks down that locals pack until midnight – but the hotel’s positioned just far enough from the main action that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 3 AM. The neighborhood’s got character too; there’s a tiny grocery store across the street run by this elderly couple who’ve probably been there since Franco was in power, and they’ll sell you the best jamón you’ve ever tasted. Walking to the cathedral takes maybe fifteen minutes if you don’t mind the bridge crossing (and honestly, the views from Puente de Isabel II make it worth the trek anyway). Parking’s actually manageable around here – not easy, but manageable, which in Seville is basically a miracle. The rooms themselves are clean and well-maintained, nothing fancy but everything works, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. I’ve stayed in plenty of four-star places that felt like they were coasting on their rating, but this one actually earns it through the small stuff – good water pressure, reliable wifi, and housekeeping that doesn’t just throw fresh towels on unmade beds.

Reviews

  • Peter from Netherlands – 3 May 2025 (9/10)

Balcony overlooking the river and its location in the Triana neighbourhood made this a great place to stay.

What could be improved: Noisy neighbours upstairs (just on one of the nights).

  • Fan from United Kingdom – 5 November 2024 (9/10)

    Location, balcony

  • Les from United Kingdom – 12 September 2024 (9/10)

    Location and terrace were excellent.

What could be improved: Nothing really. It was just an old fashioned apartment.

  • Lisa from Spain – 30 January 2024 (8/10)

The view was fabulous, area was nice and central

What could be improved: The sofa bed didn’t have any comfy pillows
Only sofa cushions for the kids in the winter would be nice if the floor had a
Rug or leather sofa had a softer base to sleep on as it was fairly hard

  • John from Netherlands – 24 May 2025 (8/10)

Relax outside, afternoon shade. Close by shops, restaurants and bus. AC works good.

What could be improved: Bed was not as wide as listed (now updated…. It is 150 wide). Kitchen stuff dated…. Percolator for coffee has no flat bottom, bread knife not sharp. No kitchen towels.

  • Hongbin from Germany – 2 October 2024 (7/10)

The apartment has a great location on the riverside and all sights are in walk-able distances. The apartment has a big terrace with river view. The host was very attentive answering my questions. The elevator was not working properly the day we checked-in. After I informed the host, it was swiftly repaired.

What could be improved: The location could also be a bit noisy. We stay three nights, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Friday night turned out to be a nightmare, because there was a celebration in the restaurant a few houses away. (Spanish dinner parties seem to start at 10pm and won't end till 2am… then there was vacuum cleaning and groups of younger people partying to loud music….) But the Saturday night turned out to be very quiet. I checked other reviews before I booked the place regarding noise, but I guess it's also a matter of luck.

  • Vic from United Kingdom – 18 March 2023 (9/10)

amazing view from terrace over the river.

loved watching people, boats, birds and bats!

very responsive hosts when messaging to ask any thing.

great spot easy to walk to anywhere, loads of food spots right on doorstep.

  • David from United Kingdom – 9 September 2022 (8/10)

The balcony with riverside view was great
The location of the apartment was great

What could be improved: Although perhaps not the most important element of accommodation the ironing board was broken and we had intended to use this during our stay.

  • I from Bulgaria – 22 November 2024 (8/10)

Location and view – the apartment is located in Triana quarter, which is around 20 minutes from Cathedral and Alcazar. It has a large terrace with a beautiful view over the river and the alley. The kitchen is equipped quite well.

What could be improved: The apartment was heavily aromatized. I removed 4 or 5 air fresheners but the smell continued. Furniture is a bit old-fashioned. The whole place has a feel of an office space that has been refurbished as a rental apartment – a bedroom with a glass wall, covered by a curtain, etc.

  • John from United Kingdom – 14 May 2024 (9/10)

Location, watching the world go by on the river from the terrace whilst having breakfast was perfect. Everything was so easy to access walking, sights bar’s restaurants and Tirana market for a great selection of fresh food.

What could be improved: No dislikes
