Okay, so I stumbled upon Alohamundi Federico Rubio during my third trip to Seville, and honestly? I wish I’d found this place years ago. It’s tucked right into the old town on Calle Federico Rubio – you know that narrow street that curves just off Plaza de la Encarnación, where you can actually hear the fountain from the square if you open your window at night. The location is sort of perfect in that low-key way where you’re not dealing with the chaos of Calle Sierpes (thank god), but you can still walk to the Cathedral in maybe eight minutes if you cut through the little alleyways behind Santa Catalina church.

What really got me about this place was how it feels like someone actually thought about the details. I mean, the lobby has this warm terracotta thing going on that doesn’t scream “generic Andalusian hotel” – it’s more subtle than that, with these hand-painted tiles that look worn in the right way. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions. They told me which tapas bars were still good (apparently Los Coloniales has gotten too touristy, but there’s this tiny place called El Rinconcillo that’s been around since 1670 – who knew?). My room was on the third floor facing the street, and yes, you’ll hear some noise from people walking back from dinner around 11 PM, but it’s not the kind of noise that keeps you up. Actually, I found it kind of charming – very much part of being in the heart of Seville’s old quarter.

The rooms themselves are well… look, this isn’t the Alfonso XIII with its marble everything, but it’s solid four-star comfort with character. Good air conditioning (crucial in August, trust me), decent WiFi that actually worked when I needed to upload photos, and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that doesn’t make you feel like you’re being attacked by a garden hose. What surprised me was the little balcony – not all rooms have them, but if you can snag one, do it. Perfect for morning coffee while watching the neighborhood wake up. The cleaning staff clearly cares about their work too; towels were always fresh, and they didn’t just make the bed, they actually straightened everything properly. With an 8.7 rating, you’d expect decent service, but this felt more personal somehow. I’d definitely stay here again, especially during spring when you can leave the windows open and really soak up that old Seville atmosphere without melting into the sidewalk.

  Incredibly well located. Everything you want to do is only a few minutes walk away.
  
  The apartment is spacious with comfortable furniture. I was here for 3 weeks and did not feel cramped.
  
  The wifi is fast and reliable.
  
  What could be improved: A vacuum cleaner would be very useful as it is a large space to clean with only a broom.
  Also the washing machine needs a clean as it made my clothes smell of damp. Something to dry laundry on is needed too.
  I doubt shorter term guests would notice these things.

  What could be improved: Purtroppo l'utilizzo di check in automatico e la mancanza di reception – ormai normale nella maggior parte dei b&b – crea dei problemi, come ad esempio l'impossibilità di lasciare le valige prima del check in o dopo il check out. Nel nostro caso inoltre, a causa del blackout, non abbiamo potuto entrare nell'appartamento e abbiamo dovuto aspettare finché qualcuno non è venuto ad aprirci (ma questo ovviamente è stato un evento eccezionale di cui il proprietario non ha nessuna colpa).
