You know what struck me first about Alohamundi Salvador? It’s actually tucked right into this gorgeous little plaza that most tourists walk past without realizing there’s a hotel there. I mean, Plaza del Salvador isn’t exactly hidden – it’s got that beautiful church and all – but the hotel entrance blends so seamlessly with the old architecture that you feel like you’re staying in someone’s centuries-old family home rather than a typical four-star place.

The location is honestly pretty brilliant if you want to experience real Seville without being stuck in the touristy bubble around the cathedral. You’re literally steps from Calle Cuna, which has some of the best tapas bars that locals actually frequent (not just the guidebook ones), and it’s maybe a seven-minute walk to the river if you want to escape the narrow streets for a bit. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – unlike some places in the Barrio Santa Cruz where you’ve got people wandering around with cameras until midnight, this little corner settles down once the bars close. The church bells do ring, but honestly, after the first morning you start looking forward to them.

The rooms themselves feel authentic without being uncomfortably old-fashioned, if that makes sense. They’ve clearly put money into renovating but kept the character – thick walls that actually keep the summer heat out, which anyone who’s spent August in Andalusia will tell you is crucial. The bathrooms are modern enough that you don’t feel like you’re roughing it, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses). Parking can be tricky since it’s right in the old town, but there’s a public garage about three blocks away on Calle Alemanes that won’t break the bank. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling or long speeches about amenities, just genuine recommendations about where to grab breakfast and which streets get crazy crowded during Semana Santa.

What really won me over was the staff’s approach to hospitality. They’re not hovering or overly formal, but when I mentioned I was looking for a specific type of sherry, the guy at reception actually drew me a little map to this tiny bodega near the Alameda that I never would have found otherwise. These are the kinds of details that make you feel like you’re getting an insider’s experience rather than just another hotel stay. The 8.5 rating makes perfect sense – it’s not luxury in the marble-lobby sense, but it nails everything that actually matters when you’re exploring a city like Seville.

  Huge, beautifully spacious apartment!!… Fantastic location in a very safe neighbourhood. Plenty of bedding and towels were provided. The Alohamundi team kept in touch with us throughout our entire stay to ensure we were happy and had everything we needed. We loved our stay there!!
  
  What could be improved: Very little to complain about. Quite smelly on the lower stairwell, however. Not sure why, but it seems as though there are problems with drains or something similar. The smell was only down at the main entrance, and it was certainly not an issue throughout the rest of the apartment.

  This property is super unique and sits in the perfect spot! Best food and sweets short walk away! Shopping literally one block away! Close to the cathedral and walking distance to every tourist hotspot! Property is beautiful if you don’t mind a lot of stairs! Well decorated! All utensils necessary! Grab a bottle of wine and enjoy!!

  What could be improved: No hot water. It was too late by the time we realized it so we had to wait until morning to get hot water. The stairs are very steep and shower door leaks onto bathroom floor

  The apartment is very nice located and well maintained. It is clean and comfortable, we’ll decorated. The terrace is also very nice.
  
  What could be improved: The warm water in the bathrooms is quite unstable and changing especially in the first bedroom. The upper stairs are quite high and narrow.
