You know what struck me first about this place? The address alone tells you everything – Calle Murillo puts you right in the thick of Seville’s Santa Cruz neighborhood, and I mean *right* there. When they say “heart of Sevilla,” they’re not kidding around. You can literally roll out of bed and stumble into the maze of cobblestone streets that tourists spend their whole vacation trying to navigate from some hotel way out by the airport.

The apartment itself is genuinely spacious (amplio isn’t just marketing speak here), which honestly surprised me because most places in the old quarter are these cramped little rooms carved out of centuries-old buildings. But this one actually gives you room to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase in a closet. The building sits on one of those narrow streets where you can practically reach across and touch the building opposite – classic Santa Cruz vibes – but somehow the interior feels airy and bright. I suspect it’s one of those places where they’ve cleverly opened up walls and maximized the traditional Andalusian courtyard light. The 8.6 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s that sweet spot where everything works properly (you’d be amazed how rare that is in old town rentals) but it still has character and isn’t some sterile modern box.

What really sells this place though is the location game. I mean, you’re a five-minute walk from the Cathedral – not the tourist route five minutes where you get lost three times, but actual five minutes. The Real Alcázar is basically around the corner, and you’re close enough to hear the evening crowds in Plaza Santa Cruz but far enough down Calle Murillo that you’re not dealing with the late-night noise. That’s the thing about staying in this part of Seville – positioning matters enormously. Too close to the main drags and you’ll never sleep; too far and you lose that magical feeling of being inside the old Moorish quarter. This spot gets it right. Plus, honestly, once you’re staying here you start to understand how the neighborhood actually works – where locals grab their morning coffee (hint: not in the tourist squares), which streets to take when the main routes are packed with tour groups, stuff like that. And parking – well, you’re not parking anywhere near here, but that’s true for basically anywhere worth staying in Santa Cruz. The narrow streets weren’t exactly designed with rental cars in mind, but there are garages within walking distance if you absolutely need to drive.

  What could be improved: The upstairs neighbor was very noisy for the first month of our stay, then disappeared after a screaming fight with someone. The month after that was great – no more sleep depriving noise
