Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Apartamento Flor de Azahar? The address actually tells you everything you need to know – Plaza Fernando Herrera is this tiny pocket in Seville’s old town where tourists don’t usually end up, but it’s honestly one of the most authentic spots you could ask for. I mean, you’re literally living on a plaza named after a 16th-century poet, and the morning light hits those traditional Andalusian buildings in a way that makes you understand why Seville has inspired so many artists over the centuries.

The apartment itself sits in Portal B (second floor, so there are stairs – just so you know), and from the moment you step inside, it’s clear someone actually cares about this place. The 9.3 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen; it shows in details like the way they’ve restored original features while adding modern touches that actually work. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook – and honestly, you should, because there’s this fantastic little market on Calle Feria just a few minutes’ walk where locals shop for the freshest produce. The whole setup feels more like borrowing a friend’s well-appointed apartment than staying in typical tourist accommodation.

What really sold me on this location though is how it sits right in the heart of everything without feeling overwhelmed by it. You can walk to the Cathedral in about eight minutes (I timed it), but you’re tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the constant stream of tour groups. The Plaza de la Encarnación and those controversial Metropol Parasols – locals still have mixed feelings about them, by the way – are close enough for evening strolls, but your little plaza stays quiet after dark. Actually, that’s something worth mentioning: the soundproofing is surprisingly good for a historic building. You’ll hear some street life during the day, which is part of the charm, but nights are peaceful. Parking can be tricky in this part of the old town (it’s pedestrian-heavy), but there’s a public garage about a five-minute walk away on Calle Imagen, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t want to drive anywhere anyway. Everything worth seeing is either walkable or a quick metro ride away – the Puerta de Jerez station connects you to the rest of the city if you want to venture out to Triana or beyond. The four-star rating feels right; it’s not trying to be a luxury hotel, but the attention to comfort and those little touches that make a difference when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days really do add up.

The host made every effort, but the information to get the keys was a little confusing. There was information about what to do if the gate was locked, but I missed the part where the lockbox was on that gate.

Great location, very clean and lovely place. In the city center but quiet. Communication with the host was seamless and efficient.

Our host got our apartment ready for us before check in time, showed us the amenities and helped us get oriented to the neighborhood. The location was 10 or 20 minutes’ walk from the sites we wanted to visit in Seville, the Cathedral, the Alcázar, the Plaza de España, and Museum of Fine Arts. The accommodations were everything we needed. We especially appreciated the Nespresso machine.

Really nice apartment for the price! Full of natural light, with nice decor, spacious bathroom. It was great to pop in during the day and relax before going out again. The building itself is very strategically located and is close to tapas restaurants, delis and sight seeing. lt's also very calm and we had noiseless nights. The owner seems to be very pleasant, although we haven't met in person.

What could be improved: I didn't manage to lock the balcony door, and also because of it, the apartment gets quite cold over night (we stayed there in February). This can be mitigated by the AC, but it's in the living room only and so it takes time before the bedroom gets some warmth. Also, the warm water runs out after like 5 minutes in the shower, supposedly before the heating catches up. The couch isn't the most comfortable to sit on.
I think the communication, although mostly good, can be improved a little. Eg. I didn't know until the last hour how to get in the building and was hoping the owner would give me the answers. Which she did thankfully, but it would be easier just to send and automated message via Booking with the instructions well ahead.

Great apartment in excellent location for walking to sites of Sevilla. Close to great restaurants, shopping, etc. while quiet at night. Well appointed, clean, and comfortable.

What could be improved: Can't think of anything

  • Hayley from United Kingdom – 2 October 2024 (9/10)

Great space in a good location to explore Seville. Very safe apartment with multiple locks/doors to get in. Comfortable and small kitchen was perfect for light breakfasts/lunch. Highly recommend.

What could be improved: It took a bit of time to get the check in details needed to gain access to the property but once sorted communication was fine.

  • Robin from United Kingdom – 26 September 2024 (10/10)

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Gerard from United States – 30 April 2024 (9/10)

There was an elevator in the building. The location was great!

What could be improved: There were no instructions on how to operate the appliances. The Hob was locked and no instructions to unlock it. It was a bit noisy being in residential/ business area.
