You know what caught me off guard about Apartamentos Caminante del Agua? The name literally means “water walker” in Spanish, and honestly, it fits perfectly – this place feels like it’s floating right in the heart of Seville’s old quarter without getting swept away by all the tourist chaos. I mean, Calle San Roque is this narrow cobblestone street that most people walk right past on their way to the cathedral, but that’s exactly what makes it brilliant.

The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious for being tucked into what’s clearly a renovated traditional building. You’ll hear the occasional clatter of horse-drawn carriages in the early morning (the tourist ones don’t start until around 10), and the building’s thick walls actually do a decent job of keeping the noise down – though you might catch some late-night conversations drifting up from the street during weekend evenings. The interiors have this clean, modern feel that works well with the old architecture, and the kitchenettes are actually functional, not just for show. I appreciated having real counter space and a proper-sized fridge, especially since there’s a small grocery store just around the corner on Calle Mateos Gago where locals actually shop.

What really sells this place is the location – you’re literally a three-minute walk from the cathedral’s main entrance, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the constant stream of tour groups. The Alcázar gardens are right there too, and here’s something most people don’t realize: if you walk through the Santa Cruz neighborhood early in the morning, before 9 AM, you’ll have those famous orange tree-lined streets almost to yourself. The staff seems to get that people staying here want to experience Seville like residents, not just check boxes off a tourist list. Check-in was straightforward – no fuss, just practical information about the neighborhood and where to find essentials. The 8.2 rating makes sense; it’s not trying to be luxury, but everything works well and the details are thoughtfully handled. During peak season (basically April through June), you’ll want to book ahead, but even then, this street stays relatively calm compared to the main drags where other hotels cluster together.

    Roof pool photos also incorrect I thought i had booked the penthouses suite, fauls representation.

    The apartment is in a great location, clean and comfortable.

    What could be improved: Not very clear instructions. We had to ask many times to the staff where the things were (blankets, garbage, etc), but they always reply quickly.
    We could hear the noise from the hall every time the door/fence were open, especially at night.

    The swimming pool wasn't ready for use as it was dirty. We also had a clogged sink in the bathroom on arrival. The location is good, but rather loud. A lot of noise in the mornings and the room door rattled whenever someone entered the building.

    What could be improved: They ask for creditcard payment before arrival, just a reservation. 2 weeks after the stay my creditcard is still blocked. While they agreed to unblock 1 day after leaving… contacted the company, They said they unblocked the payment but they diddnt….

    The location was good

    What could be improved: The property emailed us one hour before their office closed for the day. We were unaware as my phone was in airplane mode. We arrived at the property to find we needed a code to get in. We found the email, checked in online, paid a security deposit and then was met with a message that said they would get back to us within 48 hours, umm, what? We tried calling but office was closed. It was 22:00 by then so we desperately went to other nearby hotels to see if any rooms were available. One hotel let us use their lobby as we contacted booking.com to figure out a solution. During that time, we finally got our door code from this property (about an hour after checkin was complete). Once inside we found that the floor was dirty, the shower wasn’t draining properly, the water was more cold than warm, and there wasn’t much when it came to soap and toilet paper. Following the stay I had to contact the property to get my security deposit back as they seemed unaware that they actually did more than just put a hold on it.
