You know what caught me off guard about Archeros Skyview? The name makes it sound like some generic chain hotel, but honestly, this place has way more character than I expected. It’s tucked right into Plaza de los Curtidores in Seville’s old town – and I mean right in the heart of everything. When you step out the front door, you’re literally surrounded by those narrow cobblestone streets that make you feel like you’ve wandered into a postcard, except with better WiFi.

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Seville at all. You’re a five-minute walk from the Cathedral (I timed it because I’m that person), and the Alcázar is practically around the corner. But here’s the thing locals don’t always tell you – Plaza de los Curtidores used to be where leather workers set up shop centuries ago, so there’s this genuine historical vibe that’s not just tourist fluff. The hotel itself feels like it belongs there, you know? The architecture works with the neighborhood instead of fighting it. I stayed on the fourth floor and honestly, the views over the old town rooftops are worth the climb if the elevator’s acting up – which it did once during my stay, but the staff was pretty quick about it.

What really sold me on this place was the small stuff. The lobby actually stays cool during those brutal Seville afternoons (and trust me, July here is no joke), and they’ve got this little courtyard area where you can escape the crowds without leaving the building. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent bathroom with good water pressure. Nothing fancy, but everything works. I mean, the AC was a lifesaver, and the soundproofing is better than you might think for being right in the old town. You’ll hear some street noise during the day, but it dies down at night. Pro tip: if you’re driving, ask about parking when you book – street parking around here is basically a blood sport, and the hotel can point you toward a garage that won’t break the bank. The staff speaks solid English if your Spanish is rusty, and they actually seem to know the city beyond just the major tourist spots. When I asked about good tapas places that weren’t tourist traps, they steered me toward this little place on Calle Mateos Gago that I never would have found otherwise. That 8.5 rating makes sense – it’s not perfect, but it gets the important stuff right and doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not.

  Big and comfortable apartment in a nice building with an elevator (however you have to go up some stairs anyway). Two separate bedrooms and a big living room, very well equipped kitchen. Terrace on the west side (so in summer it can only be used after sunset) with views only of adjacent rooftops and limited view of La Giralda. Great location, a few steps from busy Santa Cruz and monument zone but quiet and peaceful, also close to the non-touristy area with everyday shops.
  
  What could be improved: Some of the furniture dated, dirty sofa in the living room and broken furniture on the terrace. Central air conditioning, which made the living room freezing and the bedrooms so-so. Apartment is not on Plaza de Los Curtidores, but on Calle Archeros which is only pedestrian.
