Hotel Description

So I stumbled across Arco Macarena Lofts on a whim last spring, and honestly? Best accidental booking I’ve made in years. The thing is, most people rush straight to Santa Cruz or the Cathedral area when they hit Seville, but this little gem sits right in Macarena – and I mean, you’re literally four minutes from the ancient city walls, which is pretty wild when you think about it.

The lofts themselves are actually converted spaces, and you can tell someone put real thought into the design. None of that sterile hotel chain nonsense – these feel like apartments your cool architect friend might live in. My room had these gorgeous exposed beams (I’m a sucker for that stuff) and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious. The air conditioning works like a dream too, which, let me tell you, matters when you’re dealing with Andalusian summers. What I loved most was the little kitchenette – nothing fancy, but perfect for making coffee in the morning or storing those amazing olives you’ll inevitably buy at the Mercado de la Encarnación. Speaking of which, that market’s maybe a fifteen-minute walk, and the route takes you through some of the most authentic neighborhoods in the city. You know those Instagram-perfect patios everyone’s always posting? Well, you’ll pass about twenty of them just wandering around this area.

The staff really knows their stuff – not in that overly rehearsed concierge way, but like they actually live here and want you to love their city. The guy at reception (Carlos, I think?) drew me this hand-sketched map to avoid the tourist crowds at the Cathedral and hit it right when the light’s perfect for photos. Genius move, honestly. Parking was way easier than I expected too – there’s a public garage maybe two blocks away, and the streets aren’t completely insane like they are closer to the center. One tiny thing – if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs. The neighborhood comes alive in the evenings (in the best way), and Spanish dinner schedules mean things can get lively around 10 PM. But honestly, I found it charming after a day or two. It felt like being part of the rhythm of the city rather than watching it from some tourist bubble. The whole Macarena district has this incredible energy – it’s where actual Sevillanos live and hang out, so you get these amazing little bars and restaurants that haven’t been discovered by every guidebook yet.

Reviews

  • Andreea from Belgium – 7 May 2025 (9/10)

Everything was as it should be

What could be improved: The wifi was not so good in the bedroom

  • Teresa from United Kingdom – 7 April 2025 (9/10)

Huge apartment, close to multiple stops on Seville’s excellent bus network. Interesting walk into Seville via ancient city walls.

Access & support was all done by What’s App messaging. Make sure you have responded to the message to pre-register with all passport details to get the apartment entry code at the start of your booking.

Two huge screen-divided living areas with very high ceilings and comfortable sofas and a dining area with six chairs. Quality, full-length curtains were a bit tricky to open & close. Taller person managed it best.

Two large very nice bathrooms (really needed some clothes hooks though) with plenty of very warm water.

Cooking is on a two-ring hob or in a combi-microwave-grill. Also has a kettle and toaster.

Kitchen & bathrooms are up a few steps from the living areas & the bedroom is up a few more steps. Bedroom has borrowed light from the living area via an internal window with more luxury full-length curtains.

We only needed heat very briefly on one day due to extreme weather & it soon heated the apartment. We did not need to use the aircon.

Reported via WhatsApp that the fridge door did not close properly due to incorrect installation of cabinet door. Fridge worked but was very loud 24 hours a day trying to stay cold with no proper door seal. Repair was not possible during our five day stay due to extreme weather . Fridge iced up & condensation formed on our food. Also other cabinet doors in the kitchen needed attention to hang straight – drawers didn’t close because of a door hanging loose beside them. Also simple to fix but not done – maybe resolved during cleaning between visitors?

Loft A is beside a garage door which clangs closed quite loudly. We quickly got used to it.
The building transmits noise from other apartments – fortunately our neighbours above and adjacent were not loud, but we could hear footsteps on the floor above and even water flushing.

  • Robinpp from United States – 10 December 2024 (9/10)

The Arco Macarena Loft was better than we expected for the type of room we were looking; it was a well-equipped full apartment, with two bath rooms and a kitchen, the living room was very large, and everything was really clean and well kept; the apartment is located at street level in a very walkable neighborhood, just a couple of blocks from the famed Arco de la Macarena, from there you can walk to the old town's center, lined with restaurants, bars and cafés, and admire the impressive cathedral.

What could be improved: Although the automated door is a great feature for people with disabilities (including a ramp for wheelchair), we found it was a little slow opening and closing, exposing the interior. However, that is just our opinion; I think the owners should promote more this lodging as a great accessible choice for the elderly or people in wheelchairs.

  • Edyta from Ireland – 9 November 2024 (9/10)

Comfortable bed, good shower, equipments in kitchen, excellent communication with Apartment’s staff, safe place, supermarkets around, airconditions in bedroom and living room, help with arranging taxi to/ from airport

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Radu from Romania – 12 September 2024 (9/10)

It is spacious and very clean, 2 minutes away from the bus lines which can get you anywhere in the city. The apartment came fully equipped, from cutlery to mini stove and microwave.

What could be improved: The only negative aspect is that it was located on the ground floor next to buildings entry, so it was a little noisy in the living room when people were going in and out.

  • Shinwari from Spain – 30 August 2024 (9/10)

    Good

What could be improved: Everything is fine

  • Alexander from United States – 9 July 2024 (9/10)

Spacious, consistent cool temp, plenty of room, restrooms are modern.

What could be improved: Just a minor thing, toilet paper, shampoo and bidy wash was not enough for a 9 day stay.

  • Joanne from United Kingdom – 22 March 2024 (8/10)

There was a lot of space in addition to the bedroom which we really didn't make much use of as we were out all day. It was very easy to get here on public transport from the airport, just a bus change from the EA bus at Santa Justa station and then a few stops from around the corner on the C2 bus (to Macarena) . We were happy to walk into the historic centre (via Alameda de Hercules is interesting), but there are buses if you prefer to cut down the steps.

What could be improved: This is a self-catering apartment but we thought it could have been better provided for, for example they provided a tea towel and detergent, but no cloth or sponge for cleaning what we'd used.

  • Natalia from Poland – 26 November 2023 (9/10)

Very nice and helpful staff. Apartment was clean and as everything what you need during your vacation. Parking is at the street but there is always a free place.

What could be improved: The apartment is far away from the main attractions of te city. To get there you need to take a bus or walk about 50 minutes.

  • Yiwen from Germany – 25 November 2023 (9/10)

Cheap and big. When I come back to Seville, I definitely will live here again

What could be improved: All good
