You know what struck me first about ARTE y descanso en Sevilla? The name actually delivers on its promise – there’s this genuine artistic vibe throughout the place that doesn’t feel forced or touristy. It’s tucked away on Calle Santa Margarita in the Bellavista-Palmera neighborhood, which honestly most visitors never venture into, but that’s exactly what makes it special. You’re about a 15-minute tram ride from the cathedral and all that tourist chaos, but here you’re in actual Seville where people live their daily lives. I mean, there’s a little café around the corner where the owner’s grandmother still makes the tortillas, and the morning sounds are church bells mixing with kids heading to school – not tour groups at 7 AM.

The hotel itself has this relaxed elegance that’s hard to fake. Each room feels curated rather than decorated, if that makes sense – like someone actually thought about how the art on the walls would look in different light throughout the day. The beds are seriously comfortable (I’m talking sink-in-and-forget-your-worries comfortable), and the bathrooms have these gorgeous tiles that remind you you’re in Andalusia without hitting you over the head with it. What I really appreciated was the attention to sound – the windows actually block out street noise, which matters because Spanish life happens late and loud, in the best possible way. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood too, not just the obvious tourist spots. When I asked about finding good ceramics, they sent me to this workshop three streets over that I never would have discovered otherwise.

Here’s the thing about staying in Bellavista-Palmera – you get the best of both worlds. You can hop on the metro at Blas Infante station (literally a five-minute walk) and be in the historic center whenever you want, but you also get to experience how Sevillanos actually live. There’s a fantastic market nearby where you can grab fresh oranges and jamón, and the evening paseo along the river is something locals do, not something that’s in guidebooks. The hotel’s 8.8 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything works exactly as it should. Check-in was smooth, the WiFi actually functions properly, and they have this lovely little courtyard where you can have coffee in the morning without feeling like you’re in a hotel lobby. If you’re the type who wants to stay somewhere that feels authentically Sevillano rather than generically Spanish, this place gets it right.

  The apartment is very nice and comfortable. The space is very big and can accommodate up to 4 people. Ana, the hostess, was very kind and attentive, keeping in touch with us in case we needed anything. The neighbourhood is a big outside of the city centre, but it is accessible. There is a supermarket near by, but nothing else really. In general, it was a beautiful stay!

  Nos encantó la decoración y la ubicación estaba bastante bien,  siempre hemos encontrado lugar para aparcar en la misma calle y si no un poquito más adelante, hay una parcela pequeña para aparcar, que también solía haber lugar. en el apartamento había de todo lo necesario es amplio y luminoso, muy buena limpieza, un barrio súper tranquilo  y Ana fue muy atenta en todo momento con nosotros por si necesitábamos cualquier cosa. Lástima que solo fuéramos un fin de semana porque es ideal para largas estancias.
