You know what struck me first about the Asunción Suite Apartment? It’s tucked away on the fourth floor of this quiet residential building in Los Remedios, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special. I mean, you’re staying in an actual Sevillian neighborhood rather than some touristy bubble – there’s something really authentic about hearing the morning conversations from the courtyard below and smelling whatever the señora downstairs is cooking for lunch.

Los Remedios itself is this gem of a barrio that most tourists completely miss. It’s across the river from the old city center, which means you get all the charm of Seville without the constant stream of tour groups walking past your window. The apartment sits right on Calle Asunción, this tree-lined street where locals actually live and work. There’s a fantastic little market about two blocks down where I grabbed fresh oranges every morning (and trust me, Seville oranges hit different when they’re not from a hotel buffet). The walk to the cathedral and Alcázar takes maybe 20 minutes on foot, or you can hop on the metro – the San Bernardo station is super close, though I actually preferred walking because you cross the Guadalquivir on the Puente de los Remedios and the views are incredible, especially around sunset.

What really impressed me about this place was how it felt like staying in someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel room. The apartment has this lived-in quality – good quality furnishings that aren’t trying too hard to be trendy, a kitchen that’s actually functional if you want to pick up groceries, and these lovely high ceilings that keep things cool even in the afternoon heat. The building itself has character too, one of those classic Sevillian structures with thick walls that muffle street noise beautifully. I was worried about being on a busy street, but honestly, Los Remedios is pretty quiet compared to the center – you’ll hear the occasional motorcycle or late-night conversation, but it’s more like pleasant urban white noise than anything disruptive.

Getting in was straightforward (they send you clear instructions beforehand), and the whole experience just felt… well, grown-up, I guess? Like you’re trusted to take care of a nice space rather than being managed by hotel staff every step of the way. The 8.6 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything works exactly as it should. If you’re the type of traveler who wants to feel like you’re actually living in Seville for a few days rather than just passing through, this is your spot. Just don’t expect a concierge or daily housekeeping – this is for people who prefer independence over hand-holding, and honestly, in a city as walkable and welcoming as Seville, that’s exactly what you want.

  What could be improved: Personal note we were 4 friends who sometimes did independent visits to various sites of interest so at least 2 sets of keys needed…maybe a digital pad or key lock box at own door and just provide key fobs for entry to main door as other permanent residents had…

  The property was located in a very convenient and safe neighbourhood walking distance from the attractions. It was very clean and secure and the staff were very attentive and lovely to deal with. They had all the amenities such as shower gel/shampoo/hairdryer/iron etc. We came for a girls trip and everyone enjoyed the stay.
  
  What could be improved: Some of the points that need improving are:
  – The temperamental lamp
  – ⁠Some furnishings may need replacing due to usage/wear-out
  – The creaky wardrobe door perhaps needs a lock
  – ⁠Not all bedrooms have locks
  – ⁠Some dishes were chipped
  – ⁠A fresh washing sponge for each guest/visitor
  – ⁠Perhaps walls need be sound proofed- as we could hear the neighbouring property
  – ⁠Maybe be made aware which amenities they have
  – ⁠TV to connect to Netflix/Youtube

  What could be improved: It was very hot in Seville (38) and we were informed that the accommodation has air conditioner but only in the living and in the one of the bedroom.
  We requested table fan but the request was not fulfilled.
  It was not a very comfortable stay and finding parking nearby was a real task.
