Honestly, when I first saw the name of this place – ÁTICO DUPLEX GRAN TERRAZA – I thought it was going to be one of those overly flashy rentals that looks better online than in person. But walking up to this penthouse on Calle Rafael González Serna, I mean, you’re literally stepping into one of the most authentic corners of Seville’s old town. The building itself has that weathered Andalusian charm that makes you feel like you’re actually living in the city, not just visiting it.

The duplex setup is pretty brilliant, actually – you’ve got this whole two-level thing happening with two proper bedrooms and two full bathrooms, which is honestly a godsend if you’re traveling with another couple or family. But here’s what they don’t really capture in photos: that terrace is absolutely massive. I’m talking about the kind of space where you can have morning coffee while watching the neighborhood wake up, then come back in the evening with some wine from the little shop around the corner on Calle Mateos Gago. The view gives you this perfect mix of terracotta rooftops and just enough glimpse of real Sevillian life – laundry hanging between buildings, neighbors chatting from their balconies, that sort of thing that makes you feel like you’re part of the fabric of the place rather than just passing through.

What really got me was the attention to detail inside – and I don’t mean fancy marble or anything like that. The finishes are solid, the kind that make you think someone actually cares about this place rather than just trying to maximize bookings. The kitchenette is well-equipped enough that you can actually cook if you want to (though honestly, with all the tapas bars within a five-minute walk, you might not bother). Location-wise, you’re positioned perfectly – close enough to the Cathedral and Alcázar that you can walk there in ten minutes, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the constant stream of tour groups. The narrow streets around here can get a bit echoey at night, especially on weekends when people are heading to the bars in Santa Cruz, but it’s more charming than disruptive. Plus, you know what? That 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s the kind of place that exceeds expectations because it delivers on the fundamentals – comfort, character, and that intangible feeling that you’ve found a little slice of authentic Seville rather than just another tourist accommodation.

    Great location. Fabulous outside terrace. Good facilities. The air conditioning was especially useful as it was so hot.

    What could be improved: Most of the other apartments we’ve stayed on holiday provided some tea/coffee sugar etc. for us.

    Great location in the old town. All the places of interest to visit nearby within walking distance. Shops, cafes, restaurants all within a few metres. Roof top terrace a great bonus. Lovely outside space. Host friendly and welcoming

    What could be improved: Better clarity of the address of the apartment would be helpful on the booking details. I had to e mail the property owners for the exact address in order to book a taxi transfer. The owners did reply extremely quickly and the small problem was resolved immediately. Also the number of the apartment was not clear on the building. However the host was on site and spotted our arrival

    The location of the apartment was great. It was very quiet at night. A lot of the main tourist attractions are within walking distance.

    What could be improved: We were provided with the wrong address for the apartment. Luckily, the taxi driver who took us to the apartment was kind enough to contact the property for us and we managed to get the correct address.
