Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Áticos Magdalena? The name makes it sound like some generic apartment complex, but honestly, this place has character. It’s tucked away on Calle Josefa Reina Puerto – which, if you’re not familiar with Seville’s old town, is one of those narrow streets where you’ll actually want to put your phone away and just wander. The building itself has that weathered Andalusian charm where the stonework looks like it’s been soaking up stories for centuries.
The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – clean, comfortable, decent-sized by European standards. But here’s the thing that actually matters: the staff genuinely knows the neighborhood. I mean, the guy at reception didn’t just give me a tourist map and wave me off. He sketched out a little route that took me past this tiny ceramics workshop (still operating, by the way) and pointed me toward a tapas spot where locals actually eat. That’s the kind of insider knowledge you can’t Google. The rooftop situation is pretty sweet too – you get these glimpses of the cathedral spires without the crowds you’ll find at the official viewpoints. Fair warning though: if you’re planning to visit during Semana Santa or Feria, book way ahead and expect some noise. The processions literally pass right by the building, which is incredible if you’re into that sort of cultural immersion, but maybe not ideal if you’re a light sleeper.
Location-wise, you’re basically in the heart of everything that makes Seville worth visiting, but on a side street that doesn’t get the tour bus traffic. Walk five minutes and you’re at the cathedral. Walk ten and you’re crossing into Santa Cruz where the orange trees actually smell like oranges (especially in spring). The Alcázar is practically next door, and honestly, being able to duck back to your room between sightseeing sessions is a game-changer when it’s 40 degrees in July. Parking is… well, it’s old town Seville, so forget about driving here. But the metro connection isn’t terrible, and taxis know exactly where to find you. The 8.1 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but it nails the fundamentals while giving you that authentic Seville experience that chain hotels just can’t replicate. Plus, there’s something satisfying about staying somewhere that feels like a local secret, even when it’s not exactly hidden.

Location was excelent, the bed was comfy and the huge terrace is very nice. Shower is huge. AC worked very well.
What could be improved: The kitchen was lacking some elements like bread cutter and there were no basic elements like oil or salt. Felt like they are just missing a few bits and bobs and the kitchen would be perfect.Chirag from India – 16 January 2025 (9/10)
Everything was amazing, location, facilities, lift, WiFi.
What could be improved: The furniture is a bit dated but still no problems at all. Would recommend staying here.Alex from United Kingdom – 3 November 2024 (8/10)
The property location was perfect. Right in the Heart of Seville and tucked away so no prying eyes. Property was clean and spacious with everything we needed. Would definitely recommend.
What could be improved: Only 3 small downsides to the property. First was that some of the electrical goods were quite dated I.e the microwave and the hairdryer. The microwave we didn’t use which didn’t matter but the hairdryer for my girlfriend wasn’t great and a bit worn out. The second was that there was a cracked floor tile in the kitchen which could potentially cut your foot if walked over without any shoes. The third was the locks on the back doors. They were only small sliding latches where only one worked on each door and the one that worked just about catched. Not to say we felt unsafe in the city or that anything would happen but being out for the whole day every day leaving passports etc in the room with doors that weren’t fully secure didn’t create the best feeling. This may just be my London living mindset so just an extra solid lock on the doors wouldn’t go a miss.Robert from United Kingdom – 9 October 2024 (8/10)
Spacious apartment with large terrace
What could be improved: Not enough coat hangers and no "nespresso style" coffee machineKaren from United Kingdom – 8 September 2024 (9/10)
Just arrived back from staying here for 5 nights with my friend. Perfect location for everything in this beautiful city.
A small supermarket about 1 minute away which was very handy, loved the outside area of the penthouse apartment (one of the main reasons for choosing this apartment at this time of year), very spacious bathroom, all round great apartment, very comfortable.
I asked about leaving the case somewhere upon leaving as we were not being picked up until afternoon, so we did not really want to drag a suitcase about, the hosts informed us there was a luggage storage shop in the calle behind the apartment for a small charge, just perfect!
Brilliant communication & very helpful apartment hosts, I would definitely stay here again, loved it 😊.
What could be improved: Arrived at 01.00 am, had a little problem locating the property at first as the taxi drivers instructions were not quite right & that time in the morning no one was in the area to ask, but with the help of the reception staff from the hotel in the square we got there! The main entrance is tucked away in a corner of the square, so it was not easily identifiable 😊.
The only other gripe (nothing to do with the actual apartment) quite a few times when we either left or entered, the main door (key coded) was left open! That's people just not checking it was closed properly (just a bit annoying but thought it was worth mentioning just to be aware as obviously key coded to be secure 🙄) 😊Racha from Norway – 30 July 2023 (9/10)
Location and large terrace.
What could be improved: Showing age, and there some ants in the pillars that comes out.Allyssa from United Kingdom – 15 April 2023 (9/10)
the location was really good, the balcony was great and we caught plenty of beautiful sunsets
What could be improved: there was no light in the hallway or stairway going up to the apartmentGrant from United Kingdom – 23 July 2022 (8/10)
Location – TipTop
What could be improved: Window locksNatalia from Spain – 28 December 2024 (7/10)
What could be improved: The noise from the bar downstairs was a bit too much,
Hang from Germany – 1 December 2024 (7/10)
Very good location, near to the old town and main tourist attractions. The flat is spacious and bright.
What could be improved: The latches of the glass doors to the terrace is problematic, therefore the back doors couldn't be closed properly. Some flooring tiles were broken. Dishwasher isn't usable. The landlord promised to send the maintenance team to fix the door latches but they didn't show up.
