Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places in Seville’s old town, but this penthouse on Joaquín Costa really caught me off guard. You know that street – it’s right in the thick of things but somehow doesn’t get the crazy foot traffic of some of the main drags. When you first walk up (and yes, you’re walking up quite a few flights), you’re thinking it’s just another converted apartment rental. Then you step out onto that terrace and honestly, it hits different. The rooftops of the old quarter spread out like this perfect jumble of terracotta tiles, and you can actually see the cathedral spires without craning your neck.

What I really appreciated was how they didn’t try to over-modernize the space – there’s still that authentic Sevillian feel with the traditional tilework, but everything actually works properly, which, let’s be real, isn’t always a given in these historic buildings. The air conditioning is solid (crucial during those brutal July afternoons), and the kitchen setup is way better than most short-stay places I’ve encountered. I mean, you’re probably not cooking elaborate meals, but having decent coffee in the morning while watching the city wake up from that terrace? That’s worth something. The shower pressure was surprisingly good too – another one of those details that sounds boring until you’re dealing with a trickle of lukewarm water somewhere else.

Location-wise, you’re about a three-minute walk from Plaza de la Encarnación and that whole Metropol Parasol area, which honestly can be a zoo during peak season, but being just slightly removed means you get the convenience without the constant tour groups streaming past your windows. The neighborhood has this nice mix of locals and visitors – there’s a fantastic little tapas spot called El Rinconcillo practically around the corner (it’s been there since the 1600s, no joke), and you’re close enough to the river that evening walks along the Guadalquivir become part of your routine. Parking is basically impossible on the street, but there’s a decent garage about two blocks away if you’re driving. Most people won’t need to though – everything you want to see in Seville is either walkable from here or a short metro ride away. The place books up pretty quickly, especially during Semana Santa and the April Fair, so if you’re planning around those times, don’t wait around. It’s not the cheapest option in the area, but for what you get – especially that terrace space – it feels fair.

    We hadn't received the information about the door entry before we arrived at the flat, but a friendly neighbour helped us contact the owner and he sorted us out. The location of the flat was great; just one street back from Alameda de Hercules which is about 25-30minutes walk to the historic centre. Lots of choice of bars and restaurants nearby. Our favourite tapas restaurant was Alcazar Andalusi & Tapas at Calle Peris Mencheta 21/22 (www.alcazarandalusitapas.com). Access to the rooftop apartmentment was via a lift from the ground floor to the second floor and then up an additional stair up to the private access to the flat. We breakfasted on the large sunny rooftop terrace and sat out for a while in the eventing before heading out to eat. The surrounding streets were very quiet so using the terrace and sleeping with the windows open was great. The apartment has air conditioning which was easy to control and kept the apartment comfortably cool at night. The daytime temperature was around 43-44 degrees when we were, so the aircon was definately required.
    The apartment was very clean and the double bed was comfortable. The bedlinen and towels were of good quality. A toaster would have been good, but we used the grill option in the oven. There was a good size fridge/freezer. The owner provided a big container of Nespresso coffee pods for us to use. The owner provided a good supply of clothes washing and dishwashing pods which was good and also provided a large roll of kitchen paper to use. There are plenty of nearby small shops to buy essentials for breakfast stuff, wine etc. The apartment was very secure with lockable steel grilles on all of the access doors.

    Apartment was spotless with well equipped bathroom and kitchen. We loved that it has a dishwasher and washing machine!
    Sun terrace was amazing and very private.
    Transport links were also very good.

    What could be improved: A full size ironing board is required to iron modi dresses and trousers. The tiny board was difficult to use!

    We really enjoyed our stay here. The apartment was comfortable, very clean and had everything you would need. The rooftop terrace is spacious and gets the sun all day which was a real treat! It’s in a good location with some excellent restaurants and bars nearby.

    the flat is amazing, nice, confortable and new

    the location is perfect just walking distance fm the historical center

    on top, closed to the flat there are a lot of Bars and restaurants in Alameda square

    The apartment was excellent and the outside space was perfect.

    What could be improved: You couldn’t lock the apartment when you went out. There was only a lock on the outermost gate. The lock on the door to the terrace was broken. None of the metal gates locked either. So we felt quite vulnerable.

    Very clean. Superb communication from the owner. Very, very friendly. Nice roof terrace. Very comfortable bed.

    What could be improved: Everything about the apartment was great.
    It's about a 25 min walk to the main attractions of Seville. We walked everywhere but thete is abuse service approx 2 min walk from the apartment.
    The area, whilst not the prettiest, has plenty of places to eat and drink
