Hotel Description

You know what really gets me about Avanti Buganvilla? It’s got this perfect sweet spot thing going on – tucked right into the Feria neighborhood where actual Sevillanos live and work, but still close enough to the cathedral that you’re not schleping across the city with your camera gear every morning. I mean, you’re literally in the thick of things here, and honestly, that 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’ve spent a night or two.

The building itself has this whole authentic Andalusian vibe without trying too hard – you know how some places feel like they’re performing “Spanish hotel” for tourists? This isn’t that. Walking through the entrance, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about how the space would feel, not just look. The courtyard area (because of course there’s a courtyard, it’s Seville) has these bougainvillea climbing up the walls that give the place its name, and in the evenings when the light hits just right… well, you get it. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep things quiet despite being on Feria – and if you know that street, you know it can get lively, especially during the day when the market’s in full swing.

The rooms are what you’d hope for from a solid 4-star – nothing groundbreaking, but everything works and there’s actual thought put into the details. Good blackout curtains (crucial for those late Seville nights), decent shower pressure, and – this is key – the AC actually keeps up with the summer heat. I’ve stayed in too many places in southern Spain where the AC is more decorative than functional. The staff here really knows their stuff too, not just the typical tourist recommendations but actual insider knowledge about which tapas bars are worth the walk and when to hit the major sights to avoid the crowds. They pointed me toward this tiny ceramics shop on Calle Sierpes that I never would have found otherwise.

Location-wise, you’re about a 10-minute walk to the cathedral and Alcázar, but more importantly, you’re right in the middle of where the city actually lives. The Thursday market on Feria is absolutely worth experiencing – it’s this sprawling flea market situation that locals have been doing forever, and you can grab some seriously good churros from the vendors while you’re browsing. Plus, you’re close enough to Alameda de Hércules that those late-night wanderings for drinks don’t require any planning. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving, but honestly, that’s just Seville for you – the staff can point you toward the nearest garage, and it’s not too brutal a walk back.

What really sealed it for me was this sense that the place gets what travelers actually want versus what hotel marketing thinks they want. No over-the-top lobby drama or gimmicky amenities, just a really solid base for exploring one of Spain’s most incredible cities. The breakfast is local and fresh rather than international hotel buffet nonsense, and the whole operation just feels… authentic, I guess. That’s not an easy thing to pull off when you’re dealing with tourists all day, but somehow they’ve managed it.

The apartment is in a great location in a vibrant residential area but also within easy walking distance of the main attractions in the city. The apartment itself is quite compact but well equipped and the bed comfy. It's relatively quiet too with lots of great bars and restaurants nearby. Recommended.
