Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about the Avanti Hercules? It’s tucked away on Calle Lumbreras in a way that feels intentional – like someone actually thought about where to put a hotel instead of just grabbing whatever corner was available. I mean, you’re right in the thick of Seville’s old town, but somehow it doesn’t feel chaotic. The street itself is narrow enough that you’ll hear conversations from the apartments above (in a charming way, not an annoying 3 AM way), and honestly, that’s part of the whole experience.

The building has this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake – you can tell it’s been here a while but someone’s been taking really good care of it. Walking through the lobby, there’s this subtle mix of traditional Andalusian touches and modern comfort that actually works, which is rarer than you’d think. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood, too. When I asked about getting to the Cathedral, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the obvious tourist route – he mentioned cutting through Plaza del Salvador because “it’s prettier and you’ll avoid the crowds until about 10 AM.” That kind of local insight you can’t Google.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how it handles the balance between being in the center of everything and still feeling like a retreat. You’re maybe a five-minute walk from the Cathedral and the Alcázar (I timed it), but the rooms face inward toward a quiet courtyard that keeps most of the street noise out. The air conditioning actually works – and I say that as someone who’s suffered through some pretty miserable Seville summers. There’s something to be said for a hotel that understands the climate it’s working with. The rooms themselves feel spacious for old town standards, with these great shuttered windows that let you control exactly how much of that intense Andalusian light you want streaming in.

I’ll be honest, parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving, but that’s true for basically anywhere in this part of Seville. The hotel staff will point you toward the nearest garage, and it’s walkable – just factor it into your budget because street parking here is… well, let’s just say it’s optimistic thinking. But really, once you’re settled in, you won’t need a car anyway. Everything worth seeing is either walkable or a quick metro ride away, and there’s something magical about wandering these streets in the early evening when the light starts to turn golden and the tapas bars start filling up.

The whole area comes alive at night in this organic way – not the manufactured nightlife you get in some tourist districts, but actual neighborhood energy. You’ll hear guitar music drifting from somewhere you can’t quite pinpoint, smell jamón ibérico and olive oil from the little bars tucked into ground floors, and find yourself staying out later than planned just because the streets feel so alive. And when you finally head back, the Avanti Hercules is there waiting – cool, quiet, and comfortable. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere real, not just passing through.

The apartment was great ,clean and had everything you needed . The balcony was fantastic. Bed was really comfortable. It's about 15 /20 mins walk to main attractions. There were plenty of tapas bars and restaurants 2 mins from property.

    What could be improved: Nothing

We loved the location, building and facilities. We were traveling with our kids and they provided a crib for us. The best part was the terrace, it was the perfect way to end our days. There are so many restaurants near by and also a playground.
The owner recommended a parking garage a little far (not included) so we used the one right below the building: please note the space is limited and TINY and prices are very high. I think it’s a good option if you have kids and don’t want to deal with getting to/from the garage.

What could be improved: The space can be a little small if you use the sofa bed. So a family of 4 works okay but it’s on the smaller side.
