You know what really surprised me about Bailen 1? Walking up to this place on Calle Bailen, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the outside – it’s tucked into this narrow street in the old town where you can barely squeeze a taxi through. But step inside and it’s like someone took all the best parts of Seville’s classic architecture and gave it a modern makeover without losing any of the soul.
The location is actually perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Seville rather than just visiting. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the Cathedral (I timed it), but here’s the thing – you’re on the quiet side of all that tourist chaos. Most people stumble around the main squares looking for their hotel, but Calle Bailen runs parallel to all that madness, so you get the proximity without the street performers outside your window at midnight. The building itself has this gorgeous Andalusian courtyard that stays cool even when it’s blazing hot outside – and trust me, if you’re visiting in summer, you’ll appreciate having a shaded spot to decompress. I mean, the tiles alone are worth stopping to admire, though I’m probably weird for getting excited about 19th-century ceramics.
What really sets this place apart is how they’ve managed to keep the historic character while actually making everything work properly. The rooms have these high ceilings with original beams, but the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a freight train and the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like some boutique places I’ve stayed at. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood too – not just the obvious tourist spots, but where to get the best churros on Sunday morning (it’s this tiny place two streets over that doesn’t even have a sign) and which tapas bars the locals actually go to. They’ll also tell you the real story about parking, which is basically forget about bringing a car into this part of town unless you enjoy circling medieval streets for an hour. The whole area is best explored on foot anyway – you’ll want to wander down these narrow alleys and stumble across hidden plazas that don’t show up in guidebooks. Plus, you’re close enough to walk to the river when the old town gets too crowded, and there’s something magical about watching the sunset from the Triana bridge after spending the day exploring the cathedral and Alcázar. Honestly, with that 9.5 rating, I was expecting it to be one of those places that’s impressive but cold, but it actually feels like staying in someone’s beautifully restored family home – if your family happened to have impeccable taste and a prime piece of Seville real estate.

Ideally located in the historic old part of the city – close to a supermarket and a multitude of eateries and shops along narrow, winding streets. Roomy, modern apartment with all the appliances (and a lift!).

Absolutely loved this property, great location, nice size, everything is walkable and if walking is not your thing, a small taxi area is right outside. Absolutely delicious coffee and pastries shop right underneath the apartment too, perfect for breakfasts. Lots of others nearby too. We would definitely book this property again without doubt if visiting Seville again.
Note… we originally had concerns from previous reviews about hot water availability, we had a party of 6 and had no issues at all.

The apartment is very good, and the location is wonderful
What could be improved: The Apartment is very good, well located, but some details that, if adjusted, will be even better. I suggest they improve the boiler power, because if two people take a hot shower, the other guests in the apartment will have to wait for the boiler to reheat the water so they can take a shower too. As we were 7 people, it got a little complicated. Another suggestion, related to the bath as well, is the number of towels. We stayed a whole week, with only one towel each, and in the cold weather, they didn't dry.
