Barceló Sevilla Renacimiento Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Barceló Sevilla Renacimiento, I wasn’t expecting much from a hotel stuck on Isla de la Cartuja. I mean, it’s technically Triana, but it’s that weird modern part that feels sort of disconnected from the rest of Seville’s charm. But you know what? This place actually surprised me.
The building itself is this sleek, contemporary tower that completely stands out against the traditional Andalusian architecture you see everywhere else in the city. Walking into the lobby, there’s this immediate sense of space and light – floor-to-ceiling windows everywhere and this really clean, modern design that somehow doesn’t feel cold. The check-in was refreshingly quick (something you don’t always get at Spanish hotels, honestly), and the staff actually seemed to know the city well enough to give decent recommendations beyond the obvious tourist spots. My room was on the 12th floor, and the views… well, let’s just say you get a perspective of Seville that most visitors never see. You can spot the Cathedral’s Giralda tower in the distance, and the whole historic center spreads out like a postcard, especially beautiful during that golden hour before sunset.
What really works about this place is how it handles the practical stuff without making a big deal about it. The parking situation is sorted – you don’t have to stress about finding a spot in Seville’s narrow streets, which honestly is worth the stay alone if you’re driving. The pool area up top is where this hotel really shines though. It’s not huge, but it’s got that infinity edge thing going on, and swimming while looking out over the Guadalquivir River? Pretty magical, especially in summer when the rest of the city feels like an oven. The area can get a bit quiet at night since you’re not in the thick of things like Santa Cruz or the Cathedral area, but that actually worked in my favor – I could walk back from dinner in the old town (maybe 15-20 minutes along the river, or a quick taxi ride) and actually get some sleep without the usual street noise. Plus, you’re really close to some spots that most tourists skip entirely, like the monastery at La Cartuja, which has this incredible contemporary art collection. The hotel restaurant is decent enough – nothing groundbreaking, but they do a solid breakfast spread, and the coffee is actually good, which… you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case. If I’m being picky, the rooms could use a few more local touches (it feels a bit international-chain-generic), but the comfort level is definitely there, and that 8.9 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed a night or two.

The pool was amazing when it is so hot and humid. The breakfast buffet was worth every penny, the staff was super friendly.
What could be improved: I just wish it was a tad closer but once we figured out how to take bikes, it made it much easier.Jegalakshyan from United Kingdom – 7 June 2025 (9/10)

The location was perfect. Breakfast had a big variety and everything was really nice
What could be improved: We went to the restaurant and the waiters seemed that they were in a hurry for us to leave. This led them to give us the wrong bill and on top of that when the right bill was given to us it had an extra bottle of wine!Gavin from Ireland – 27 May 2025 (9/10)
Very modern , with indoor/outdoor swimming pools and 24hr gym, plenty of food and beverage options, if like walking 20/30mins into centre while still having swimming option at hotel
Minttu from Finland – 26 May 2025 (9/10)
Comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast. The pool area outside was very nice.
What could be improved: Not the nicest area of Seville, located a bit outside the city center.Juan from United States – 24 May 2025 (9/10)
The gym and bed. Quiet and nice.
Nice chicken meal.
Great gym.
What could be improved: Staff was disorganized. Though friendly. My poke bowl was terrible – came out of the fridge. I could not use smart apps on tv as no connection.
