Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Casa de Tintes? The name literally means “House of Dyes,” and honestly, that tells you everything about this place’s soul. It sits right on Calle Tintes in the heart of Seville’s old town – and I mean the real old town, where the streets are so narrow you can practically touch buildings on both sides. This isn’t some sanitized tourist zone; you’re literally living among centuries of history here. The building itself feels like it grew out of the medieval fabric of the neighborhood, which makes sense because, well, it basically did.

The thing about staying here is you’re getting that authentic Sevillian experience without sacrificing comfort – though I’ll be honest, if you’re looking for a massive lobby with marble everything, this isn’t your spot. What you get instead is something way more interesting: rooms that actually feel connected to the city’s artisan heritage, with thoughtful touches that reference the area’s textile and dyeing history. The 8.8 rating isn’t just about thread count (though the beds are genuinely comfortable) – it’s because the staff actually knows the neighborhood. Like, they’ll tell you which tapas bar around the corner has the best jamón ibérico, or when the cathedral bells get loud enough to wake you up if you’re a light sleeper. Speaking of which, bring earplugs if street noise bothers you; this is a living, breathing part of the city, not a quiet suburb.

What really gets me is how they’ve managed to create this boutique hotel experience in a building that’s probably older than most American cities. You’re a two-minute walk from the cathedral – I mean, you can see the Giralda tower from some rooms – but you’re also stumbled into one of those perfect little pockets where locals still outnumber tourists. The Plaza del Salvador is right there, and that’s where you want to be for evening drinks when the light hits those old stone facades just right. Parking is basically impossible on the street (this is medieval Seville, after all), but they’ll sort you out with nearby options. Check-in was smooth, no drama, and they genuinely seem to care that you have a good time in their city. For a 4-star place, it punches above its weight because it’s not trying to be something it’s not – it’s just really, really good at being a beautiful old building in the most beautiful part of one of Spain’s most beautiful cities.

Reviews

  • Jeanette from United Kingdom – 29 September 2024 (8/10)

The property was very clean and was well equipped. It had 3 bathrooms which was a bonus. Lovely indoor courtyard to sit in, it was spacious and had plenty of seats as well as a dining area with a further table and chairs. There was also a small sitting room next to the kitchen. It was about 10 minutes walk from the cathedral area and there was a supermarket and a bar a couple of minutes away.

What could be improved: The bedrooms were small and a bit cramped and would benefit from a small table and / or shelf to put things on Although the bathrooms were very clean 2 of them are in need of an up update

  • Alan from United Kingdom – 11 May 2024 (9/10)

    Location and clean

What could be improved: The living room area was too small. Might be better in the plaza area near the chaise lounge

  • Jane from United Kingdom – 20 April 2024 (9/10)

Lovely courtyard style communal area for socialising …..light, cool and airy.
    Kitchen had everything you need.
    Very good communication with Maria.
Great location …supermarkets, cafes and bars nearby but also only 15mins stroll to the city centre.

  • Kym from United Kingdom – 25 March 2024 (9/10)

Clean, quirky, host was always available and very helpful.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Robert from United Kingdom – 13 October 2023 (9/10)

Spacious and fitted out with everything you need.
Even more impressive than I expected.
Internal courtyard so beautiful, large and very comfortable.

What could be improved: Everything was more than perfect. Nothing not to to like.

  • Olympia from Greece – 23 October 2022 (9/10)

The rooms were plenty and comfortable. The location was excellent. Very good value for money. I would definitely visit again with a group of people.

What could be improved: We had trouble finding it because there was no name outside. There was no shampoo , only soap . And the toilet paper was not enough for the 4 nights we stayed.

  • Kizzie from United Kingdom – 14 July 2022 (8/10)

The apartment was in a good location, and was a great size for 12 adults to stay comfortably. It was nice to have our own bedrooms and enough bathrooms between us. The terrace was a nice touch, although it was too hot in the afternoons but cooler in the evenings. It was fantastic value for money, and I would recommend staying there again.

What could be improved: Upon arrival there was an issue with the wifi meaning the air-con was not working. This was not ideal as it was 40 degrees heat, but Maria was working to fix this before we settled in. Secondly, the power kept cutting out (it happened 12 times), and sometimes we weren’t even using any electrical equipment and it would happen. Maria did respond quickly and provided instructions how to fix this, but it was very inconvenient as it kept happening, and it seems as though there needs to be a more permanent solution to fix this to stop this happening in the future, instead of a quick temporary fix.

  • David from South Africa – 7 July 2022 (9/10)

    location and space

What could be improved: apartment was noisy

  • Schouwers from Belgium – 30 January 2024 (8/10)

The location was perfect. The host was very responsive and helpful. The beds were good.

What could be improved: There was quite some noice from other guests on the floor above. The curtains did not keep the streetlights out.

  • Tikva from Netherlands – 14 November 2022 (9/10)

    Room space

What could be improved: Seating area is loud with lots of echo. Not a problem in Seville with so many nice places outside. People in the apartment above can be heard.
