CASA PALACIO SXVIII CON PISCINA en centro histórico de SEVILLA Overview
Honestly, when I first walked into Casa Palacio SXVIII, I wasn’t prepared for what I’d find tucked away on Calle Vírgenes. The name basically tells you everything – this is an actual 18th-century palace that someone had the brilliant idea to turn into a hotel, and thank god they did. You walk through these massive wooden doors (the kind that make you feel like you should announce yourself with a trumpet), and suddenly you’re standing in this gorgeous courtyard with original tiles that have probably seen more history than most museums.
The location is absolutely perfect if you actually want to experience Sevilla rather than just Instagram it. You’re literally in the heart of the old town – I mean, you can walk to the Cathedral in about eight minutes, and the Alcázar is even closer. But here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you: being on Calle Vírgenes means you’re on one of those narrow streets that tourist buses can’t navigate, so it stays relatively peaceful even during peak season. Well, peaceful by Sevilla standards anyway – you’ll still hear the occasional flamenco guitar drifting from nearby bars, but that’s part of the charm, right?
What really got me was the pool situation. Most hotels in this part of town either don’t have pools or stick them on some random rooftop as an afterthought. But this place has this incredible pool area that feels like a secret garden – it’s tucked away in the palace courtyard, surrounded by orange trees and original stonework. I spent way too many afternoons there with a book and a glass of manzanilla, watching the light change on the old walls. The water’s actually refreshing too, which sounds obvious but you’d be surprised how many hotel pools feel like lukewarm baths.
The rooms themselves feel authentically palatial without being stuffy – high ceilings, beautiful tile work, but modern bathrooms that actually work (trust me, this matters in historic buildings). My room had these shuttered windows that opened onto the courtyard, and honestly, waking up to that view never got old. The air conditioning works properly too, which is crucial because Sevilla summers don’t mess around.
One thing I really appreciated was how the staff treated the place – they clearly understood they were caretakers of something special. Check-in was smooth, they knew the neighborhood inside and out (ask them about the best tapas spots that aren’t overrun with tourists), and they had this relaxed confidence that comes from working somewhere they’re genuinely proud of.
If you’re the type who needs a gym and a business center and all that corporate hotel stuff, this probably isn’t your place. But if you want to stay somewhere that actually feels connected to Sevilla’s history and culture – somewhere you can have a proper Andalusian experience while still having a beautiful, comfortable place to retreat to – then this is exactly what you’re looking for. Just book early, because word is definitely getting out about this place.

Stunning accommodation. Really comfortable and beautifully maintained. It's in a great location in the centre of the old part of Seville with everything close by. The very large garage was an added bonus for us as we had a large 7 seater van. Great communication throughout from the host.
