Hotel Description

You know what? Casa Teo is one of those places that completely changes how you think about staying in Seville’s old town. I mean, when you first walk up to the building on Calle Teodosio, it looks pretty unassuming from the outside – just another narrow street in the maze that is the historic center. But honestly, that’s part of what makes it special.

The thing about this place is that it actually feels like someone’s elegant home that they’ve opened up to travelers, not some sterile hotel chain. The owners clearly know what they’re doing – there’s this perfect balance between keeping the old Sevillian character (think original tile work and those gorgeous high ceilings) while making sure everything actually works properly. The air conditioning is solid, which trust me, you’ll appreciate during those brutal July afternoons when the temperature hits 40°C and the whole city basically shuts down for siesta. I stayed there during Semana Santa once, and while the processions were incredible to watch from nearby streets, it was such a relief to retreat back to the cool, quiet rooms when the crowds got overwhelming.

What really sold me on Casa Teo, though, is the location – and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way everyone says. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Cathedral and Giralda, but here’s the thing: you’re just far enough off the main tourist drag that you’re not dealing with constant noise from tour groups. Calle Teodosio itself is pretty quiet, especially in the evenings when locals are out strolling (well, after the sun goes down and walking becomes bearable again). There’s this little tapas bar called El Rinconcillo just around the corner – supposedly the oldest in Seville, though honestly half the bars claim that – where you can grab some proper jamón and a caña without fighting through crowds of confused tourists holding maps.

The staff there gets it, you know? They’re not pushy with recommendations, but if you ask about getting to Triana or where to catch the best flamenco show, they’ll give you the real local spots, not the tourist traps. I remember asking about parking once (because driving in Seville’s old town is basically a nightmare), and instead of just saying “there’s a garage nearby,” they walked me to the window and pointed out exactly which streets to avoid and where the closest reasonable parking was. Little things like that make such a difference when you’re trying to navigate a city that was clearly designed before cars existed.

Is it perfect? Well, like most old buildings in this part of Seville, the walls aren’t exactly soundproof – you might hear your neighbors if they’re having a particularly animated conversation. But that’s honestly part of the charm of staying somewhere with real character instead of some modern box hotel. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are updated (and have actual water pressure, which isn’t always a given in historic buildings), and there’s something really satisfying about falling asleep to the sound of horse carriages clattering over cobblestones outside your window. It’s exactly what you want from a Seville experience – authentic, comfortable, and perfectly positioned to explore one of Spain’s most beautiful cities.

Reviews

  • Coleen from United States – 3 May 2024 (9/10)

Casa Teo’s central location makes it a perfect home base to explore Sevilla. Manuel is a great host and he shared valuable insights about the city.

  • Aris from Greece – 4 November 2023 (9/10)

The neighbourhood, central but not saturated with tourists, the pretty building.

What could be improved: Perhaps the towels, the looked a bit used albeit clean, that sort of thing.

  • Leslie from Canada – 20 October 2023 (9/10)

The property was as described. Manuel was very friendly and helpful, He met us and showed us around, and gave us the information we needed to enjoy our stay. Manuel was quick to respond to questions.

  • Marieke from Netherlands – 18 October 2023 (9/10)

Manuel is the most welcoming host and the apartment has everything you can wish for.

  • Eugene from United Kingdom – 21 June 2023 (9/10)

Liked street. Ambience good.. Nice place location. Helpful host

What could be improved: No power shower!
2nd room in the apartment was not a good view as looking at a brick wall, which was a shame as the rest of the apartment tastefully decorated. Host has made an imaginative attempt to alleviate 'the wall', but we're having arguments. Thanks for this. How could it be improved; reliefs, mosaics, tiles, mirrors, trompe l'oel….reflective of city history.

  • Noel from United Kingdom – 11 May 2023 (9/10)

    great location

  • Barros from Portugal – 24 October 2022 (9/10)

First of all the reception was amazing. Manuel was so kind, our flight was delayed around half an hour so we arrived later than expected and he patiently waited to welcome us. His communication with us was excellent.
The place itself was exactly as we hoped, two bedrooms that were comfortable, a bathroom equipped with everything we needed, a small kitchen and a small cozy area where we watched tv at night. Everything was clean and we had towels for every single person.
Really amazing in terms of quality-price. We walked to every single place we wanted to visit because the longest we had to was 25 minutes. The city is very nice and easy to walk around so the apartment had a perfect location.
5/5 if I come back to Sevilla I'll just book this one again.

What could be improved: There wasn't a single negative thought on my mind throughout my stay.

Perfect location and very clean appartement. I can only recommend it.

  • Kyra from Australia – 23 September 2022 (9/10)

Lovely, little apartment in a quiet street. There are two apartments in the building; the owner lives on the top floor. Ours was on the entrance level, back from the street and secure, with a small private leafy courtyard. There is also a rooftop terrace. The apartment is small but compact, with all amenities except for a washing machine. The kitchen is divided from the sleeping area. Well located with a supermarket just around the corner. Helpful and friendly host. Wish we could have stayed longer..!

  • Erika from Germany – 30 May 2024 (8/10)

There is everything you need for a comfortable time ( kitchen, bathroom, a good bed, equipment). The roof-top is wonderful! It is a quiet place and cool at night.

What could be improved: It is a bit dark in the apartment, but I was on tour all day, so this was no problem.
