Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about DescubreHome Postigo Inner Patio? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – and honestly, that’s rarer than you’d think with these boutique places. Walking down Calle San Diego (which is this narrow cobblestone street that feels properly old Seville), you almost miss the entrance until you step inside and realize they’ve built this gorgeous little sanctuary around an actual interior courtyard. I mean, the whole setup is classic Andalusian architecture done right – white walls, terracotta tiles, and this central patio that somehow makes the summer heat bearable even in August when the rest of Seville feels like an oven.

The location is pretty much perfect if you actually want to experience Seville rather than just Instagram it. You’re literally in the heart of the old town – the Cathedral’s maybe a four-minute walk, the Alcázar gardens are right there, and you can stumble back from the tapas bars on Calle Mateos Gago without needing a map or fighting for a taxi. But here’s the thing locals know: Calle San Diego itself is just off the main tourist drag, so you get that authentic neighborhood vibe in the evenings when families are out walking and the street vendors aren’t hawking flamenco fans every five seconds. The building itself has that typical Sevillan charm – thick walls that keep things cool, beautiful ironwork on the windows, and you can actually hear the cathedral bells throughout the day (which sounds romantic until 7 AM, but honestly, it becomes part of the experience). What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to modernize everything without losing that historic character – the rooms feel fresh and comfortable, the bathrooms are properly updated, and the WiFi actually works, which can be hit-or-miss in these older buildings. The staff clearly knows their stuff too; they gave me restaurant recommendations that weren’t the obvious tourist traps, and when I mentioned wanting to see some authentic flamenco, they steered me toward this tiny bar in Triana instead of the overpriced dinner shows.

The only minor thing I’d mention is that rooms facing the street can get a bit lively on weekend nights – Seville doesn’t really do “quiet” the way some cities do, and that’s part of its charm, but light sleepers might want to request a patio-facing room. That said, by Spanish standards it’s actually pretty peaceful, and you’re trading any potential noise for being able to walk everywhere that matters. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re staying in a real Sevillan neighborhood rather than some sanitized hotel district, this place nails it. The combination of that killer location, genuine character, and the fact that they clearly care about the details makes it feel more like staying at a friend’s beautifully restored townhouse than just another hotel room.

Reviews

  • Esther from United Kingdom – 28 May 2025 (9/10)

Fantastic location right in the heart of the Old Town, a stone's throw from the Catedral de Sevilla. Lots of cafes, bars, restaurants, flamenco shows, tourist information and public transport, all within easy walking distance. Our taxi from the airport got us there in about 30 minutes, and getting the key out of the key safe was easy. Lovely cool apartment on ground floor – a delicious relief after coming in from the hot streets. Nice big open plan room where it was easy to cook and eat simple meals. Excellent spacious walk-in shower with great hot water pressure. Also a bidet in the bathroom, and a hair dryer. Enormous walk-in wardrobes in the bedroom. Lots of storage space. Good communication from the host, checking via WhatsApp that we had arrived and got in OK and that we had everything we needed. Location couldn't be better – restaurants, bars etc just around the corner, and yet the little square it is in is very quiet. Another very unusual plus point was that a religious procession passed right in front of our window which was a nice surprise.

What could be improved: The apartment was fairly dark but in the heat of summer the cool and the dark are very welcome. The inner patio did not add much to the apartment. It was more like a well – open to the sky above, but with no windows and just 3 potted plants and a washing machine. If the walls were covered with plants growing up them, it would feel a bit more alive. Also, the drain in the floor was quite smelly so it was not an attractive space to spend time in. But the patio was not really necessary as there were lots of lovely pavement cafes and parks nearby. Another minor flaw was that there was no toaster or grill so we couldn't make toast for breakfast. But again, the fresh croissants from nearby bakeries made up for it! Another negative was that there was building work going on outside our window between approx 11am and 2pm but that is obviously just a temporary situation. It was always quiet at night in our little square.

Perfect location, had everything we needed.

  • Tess from Australia – 5 February 2025 (8/10)

We stayed 3 nights and had everything we needed. Easy access to all the sights of the old town by walking approx. 5min to the cathedral. Very clean and quiet PLUS its on the ground level so no stairs 🙂 Plenty of space in the lounge / kitchen with seperate door to the bedroom. Very spacious bathroom as well. Washing machine and everything you need to wash as well. Would highly recommend.

  • Elena from Italy – 3 February 2025 (8/10)

    Todo maravilloso.

  • Peppy from Ireland – 14 January 2025 (9/10)

Location is excellent. Very central and perfect for exploring Seville. Lots of bars and restaurants near by but still very quiet once inside the apartment.

  • Ryan from United States – 1 November 2024 (9/10)

Centrally located and yet off in a quieter corner, first floor apartment with easy access. Property was clean, given it is an older building. We didn’t use kitchen facilities so can’t comment. Bed was comfortable. Easy self-check in, especially given the photo to clarify where to find the key, and communication with host was great. Confirm check out time with property directly as we were confused by information we saw on Booking website.

What could be improved: Nothing- Met all our basic needs for our brief overnight stay.

  • Amanda from Spain – 8 April 2024 (9/10)

Amazing location — situated in the middle of Casco Antiguo, walking distance from various landmark including the Torre de Oro and Cathedral, surrounded by dozens of bars and restaurants.

What could be improved: The price was really steep

  • Carol from United States – 25 February 2024 (8/10)

Very clean and quiet. The location was ideal–3 minute walk to the Seville Cathedral. There is heat and AC, a great shower and a dishwasher and washing machine as well as microwave and toaster. In short, a full kitchen. There is LOTS of closet space in the bedroom.
    We always felt safe.
This apartment met our needs to a T.

What could be improved: While there are lots of windows, the apartment was a little on the dark side. I think brighter watt bulbs might fix this very small problem.

  • Loreto from Ireland – 21 January 2024 (9/10)

The apartment was very central, less than a two minute walk to the cathedral – centre of Seville. The apartment was clean, cosy and had all that we needed. It looked exactly like the pictures provided. Entrance hall was spotless. There were numerous eating places in the vicinity and there was a good buzz in the evenings. Yet the area we were in was quiet and felt safe.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Irene from United Kingdom – 19 November 2023 (9/10)

Lovely spacious one bedroom apartment- fantastic location close to the Cathedral. Lively tapas bars close by (but you can’t hear noise from them). Excellent breakfast cafe just round the corner. Great place.
