Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked into Doña Elvira Suites Cathedral – the entrance is pretty understated for a 4-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best spots in Seville are the ones that don’t need to shout about themselves. This little gem sits right on Plaza de Doña Elvira, which is basically like having a front-row seat to one of the most charming squares in the Santa Cruz neighborhood. I mean, you’re literally steps from the cathedral (hence the name), but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the constant stream of tour groups that plague some of the main drag hotels.

The suites themselves are actually proper suites – not those fake “junior suites” that are just regular rooms with a chair thrown in the corner. Each one has a separate living area, and the kitchenettes are surprisingly well-equipped if you want to grab some jamón and cheese from the market and have a quiet evening in. The décor walks that fine line between traditional Andalusian charm and modern comfort without feeling like a theme park version of “authentic Spain.” You’ll find hand-painted tiles and wrought iron details, but also decent WiFi and air conditioning that actually works (trust me, this matters in July). The bathrooms are generous, though the water pressure can be a bit moody – seems to be better in the mornings than evenings when everyone’s showering.

What really sets this place apart is the location knowledge you gain just by staying here. The plaza gets this gorgeous golden light in the late afternoon, and you’ll quickly learn that the best time to explore the nearby cathedral is first thing in the morning before the crowds arrive. The hotel staff actually knows the neighborhood – they’ll point you toward the tiny tapas bar around the corner on Calle Rodrigo Caro that doesn’t even have a sign, or tell you which mornings the flower vendors set up in the square. Parking is… well, it’s the old town, so forget about it. But you’re close enough to everything that you won’t need a car anyway. The nearest metro stop is a bit of a walk, but honestly, everything worth seeing in Seville’s historic center is within wandering distance. Just be prepared for some noise in the evenings – the plaza is popular with locals and visitors alike, and Spanish dinner hours mean things can get lively until late. If you’re a light sleeper, pack earplugs or request a room facing away from the square. That 8.8 rating feels about right – it’s not perfect, but it gets the important things right and gives you a genuine taste of living in historic Seville rather than just visiting it.

  Great location in the city centre, a few steps from the Cathedral. Great facilities including dishwasher and washing machine. Clean and comfortable.

  Really nice flat absolutely in the midle of Sevilla at Plaza de Dona Elvira… this square was our famous sware in the whole city center, nice buildings with orange trees around. The flat is clean, well equiped. Must say a perfect place to discover Seville from the center. The beds in the rooms are super comfort. The flat looks really nice in real also like on the pictures on booking.com. Really nice place we liked it so much.

  The flat is really nice, maybe it would be better with some more furnitures in the rooms and in the smaler bathroom to have enough place for clouds and things in the bathroom.

  The location was fantastic in the heart of the historic part of the city and minutes away from all the sites and restaurants. It overlooked a quiet, shady square. The apartment was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It was ideal for us – a family of four adults.

  Superb location couple of minutes walk from the Cathedral and Real Alcazar. The appartment was comfortable for 4 people.
  
  What could be improved: Take earplugs if a light sleeper due to the street cleaning in the early hours! Missing soap dispenser and plug in one bathroom.
