Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about this place? Walking up to 47 Calle González Cuadrado, I honestly expected just another tourist rental – but this duplex penthouse actually delivers on the promise. The terrace alone makes it worth considering, especially if you’re someone who needs space to decompress after trudging through Seville’s cobblestone maze all day.

The location is pretty sweet, I’ll give it that. You’re right in the old town without being on one of those impossibly narrow streets where delivery trucks wake you at dawn. González Cuadrado is wide enough that you don’t feel claustrophobic, but you’re still a five-minute walk from the Cathedral – I mean, you can practically see the Giralda from the terrace on a clear day. The duplex setup works better than I thought it would too; having the sleeping area upstairs gives you actual separation from the living space, which matters more than you’d think when you’re traveling with friends or family. TheGoodTourist clearly put some thought into the furnishing – it’s not that generic IKEA-everywhere look you get in most rentals.

What really sold me though was how the terrace becomes this little refuge when the afternoon heat gets brutal (and trust me, Seville heat is no joke). There’s enough shade that you can actually sit out there with coffee in the morning without melting, and the evening light hits just right for those golden hour photos everyone’s chasing. The building itself is quiet – well, as quiet as you’ll get in the old town where horse carriages clip-clop past at all hours. I stayed during Semana Santa season and while the streets were absolutely packed, you could retreat upstairs and actually hear yourself think. The 8.2 rating feels about right honestly – it’s solidly good without being knock-your-socks-off amazing. Check-in was smooth, the place was clean, and everything worked (which isn’t always a given with these character buildings). My only minor gripe is that the stairs to the upper level are a bit steep, so if you’re hauling heavy luggage or have mobility concerns, just be aware. But for most people, especially if you want that authentic Seville experience without sacrificing comfort, this duplex hits the sweet spot between tourist convenience and local flavor.

Reviews

  • Zoe from United Kingdom – 21 April 2025 (8/10)

    Excellent location.
    Accommodated 6 guests
    Modern, clean bathrooms.
    Well equipped.

What could be improved: Smaller than expected, outside furniture looking tired and worn.

  • Susan from Ireland – 12 November 2024 (9/10)

The apartment was beautiful down a quiet street. All the rooms were clean and in good condition, there was also plenty of cleaning supplies for us to tidy as we went. The terrace on the top floor was lovely we spent one enjoyable evening watching the stars over a bottle of wine. The location was great just around the corner was the Feria Market with flowers, bakery, meat, fish, fruit and veg stalls in the morning. There are plenty cafes, and tapas bars around too. It is very close to the Setas de Seville about a 10min walk and 20min from the Cathedral. There is a luggage storage drop off on Feria Street across from the market which was very handy on our last day. Seville is a beautiful city and for most people this apartment is a perfect base. I'd happily stay there again.

What could be improved: We were ensure of how to dispose of our rubbish as the bins are communal but we spotted them on Feria street the last day. The stairs did not effect us but this apartment is not suitable for people with walking difficulties due to the number of staircases. There was only one key which was not ideal as if anyone wants to go to bed or rest while others are out they are locked in. The building across the street was derelict but it did not cause us any problems.

  • Grainne from New Zealand – 7 June 2023 (9/10)

Spacious and well-appointed. Excellent aircon and spotless.

What could be improved: Wasn’t possible to use one of the showers (leaking) – understand this was a temporary situation which will be fixed.

  • Audrey from United States – 26 May 2023 (9/10)

    walking distance from everything

What could be improved: no parking

  • Christine from Netherlands – 1 May 2025 (8/10)

Good location- quite area yet close to many bars and you can easily walk to the centre; spatious apartment; clean; good contact with company/owner, who always replied immediately when we had questions. Airco and other equipment works well.

What could be improved: Two issues. 1. The key was not in the locker (as promised) when we arrived so we had to call and then wait approx. one hour with our luggage in front of the apartment. 2. The description states twice that there is a washing machine (so we brought few clothes) and when we asked for it we were told there is no washing machine (so bear in mind that the description is/was not accurate on thst point).

  • Omar from Bahrain – 11 February 2025 (7/10)

    Location

What could be improved: Hot water. Staircase.

  • Michaela from Ireland – 7 January 2025 (8/10)

Host was very helpful before and during our stay. Apartment was clean and stocked with all the essentials. Location was great for exploring Seville. Would recommend overall.

What could be improved: We would have liked a few extra pillows. We were unsure where to put all of the rubbish and it was not great that it stacked up during our stay there with nowhere close by to dispose of it.

  • Natalie from United States – 30 June 2023 (8/10)

Large and well appointed. The terrace was nice but far too hot for us to use while there, though had we decided to spend evenings in the duplex it would have been fine. Rooms were large and all had AC which was critical with the heat in Seville. Nice area with little local bars and restaurants all around, and walking distance to the main attractions (about 15 minutes to most)

What could be improved: Entry corridor was a bit dirty with cigarette butts and small pieces of trash. There are a LOT of stairs. Wasn’t an issue for our group, but if you have heavy luggage or anyone that has issues climbing stairs, it could be a challenge. It’s a full flight just to enter the duplex, and if you’re in the master bedroom, it’s three full flights to get there and to get to the terrace.

  • Paul from United Kingdom – 13 October 2023 (7/10)

    Lovely terrace

What could be improved: Place needs a bit of tlc

  • Christelle from Spain – 30 September 2024 (9/10)

Great flat, fantastic terrace to chill out
