Hotel Description
You know what hit me first about El Lagar de Cuna? The name itself – it literally means “The Cradle Winepress,” and honestly, that tells you everything about this place’s character before you even walk through the door. Tucked away on Calle Lagar in Seville’s old town, this boutique spot feels like someone took a traditional Andalusian house and turned it into exactly the kind of hotel you’d design for yourself if you actually lived here.
The location is pretty brilliant, actually. You’re deep enough in the old quarter to feel like you’re living among the locals – I mean, you’ll hear church bells instead of traffic, and there’s this amazing little bakery about two minutes away that the hotel folks will tell you about if you ask nicely. But you’re not so buried that getting to the Cathedral or Alcázar becomes a trek. Walking to the main sights takes maybe ten minutes through these narrow cobblestone streets that honestly make you feel like you’re in a movie, though fair warning – those same charming stones can be a bit murderous on wheeled luggage.
What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both intimate and polished without trying too hard. The building itself has that gorgeous Sevillan architecture – you know, the kind with interior courtyards and tiles that make you want to Instagram everything – but they’ve renovated it thoughtfully. The rooms aren’t huge (this is old town Seville, after all), but they’re smartly designed with local touches that feel authentic rather than theme-park-ish. I particularly loved how quiet it gets at night, which is sort of miraculous considering you’re in the heart of one of Spain’s liveliest cities. The thick walls definitely help, though you might catch some evening chatter from locals heading home from dinner around midnight – which I actually found charming rather than annoying.
The staff here really knows their stuff about the neighborhood, and I don’t mean just the obvious tourist spots. They’ll point you toward the tiny tapas place where locals actually eat, or tell you which streets flood first when it rains (helpful during Seville’s dramatic but brief downpours). The whole operation feels like it’s run by people who genuinely care about Seville rather than just running a business here. With an 8.4 rating, they’re clearly doing something right – it’s that sweet spot where you get solid four-star comfort without the stuffy formality that can make some hotels feel like museums you’re afraid to touch anything in.

Good space, location and basics were there. Bed was comfortable, and bathroom was reasonably sized along with ease of use of the wash machine. Separate AC units in the two spaces which made it easy to keep it comfortable. Reasonably quiet and very dark rooms when sleeping.
What could be improved: Not a reflection of the property but the management, a few items were missing. First, we were not given the correct address of the property. There were not enough bed linens for both beds, and our request for more was not responded to. There was no toilet paper. Nespesso machine was broken.Mrp from Hungary – 31 December 2022 (9/10)
Nice, cozy apartment in the historical district, a few minutes walk from the catherdral. The owner was very kind and helpful. He recommended very good restaurants and not so common sites to visit.
What could be improved: My fiancée saw a cockroach in the bathroom (but the owner took care of it), the toilet seat was broken (but still usable), the toilet paper hold and an electric socket in the kitchen were broken too (also still usable), and it was a bit cold in the apartment, so we had to use the AC for heating. But these are just lady problems, I think it was really cool XDDianne from United Arab Emirates – 13 April 2025 (9/10)
Excellent location, walking distance to the sights. The apartment had everything we needed.
What could be improved: It was a little noisy at night (resolved this by putting the air conditioning on to sleep). The bed was quite hard and creaky.Jan from United Kingdom – 13 March 2024 (8/10)
Excellent central location not far from the cathedral.
Apartment very clean , bed comfortable, most basic amenities available. Good shower.
20min walk to the bus station, so it was easy to get there on foot or by taxi to get bus to airport (4 euros/pp)
Manager/owner kindly allowed us to leave our bags in the apartment until late afternoon on check out day.
What could be improved: Street is pedestrianised so taxi could only drop us a few streets away, and the property was quite difficult to find. The door not well marked and the wrong number in fact above the door. Could have done with a detailed map of how to find it. Lockbox straightforward to use. I rang the owner/manager who was helpful and messaged back a little later to check we'd got in ok.
The sofa bed as a sofa didn't seem very secure and kept slipping forward.
Would have like there to be a folder with map/local information in the apartment ( although we had been sent a list of restaurants online in advance -no addresses so a bit difficult to know where to head)
And would have liked a tea towel provided as it's not something we thought we'd need to bring.Bart from New Zealand – 12 January 2024 (9/10)
Great location and had most of the things we needed. Bed was comfortable and we had no major issues. There's plenty of place to eat nearby and there's a supermarket (Carrefour Express) at the end of the lane.
What could be improved: Save yourself some hassle and make sure you're super clear on where to find it as even Google got confused (maybe ask the host for a map with a big X on it). Also note the hot water doesn't last long – it reheats quickly, but short showers are the order of the day!Sharon from New Zealand – 9 October 2023 (7/10)
Location was great, close to everything. Alvaro who we dealt with was fantastic, he very kindly brought us whatever was missing in the house as we had a long stay.
What could be improved: The bed is a double, we found it small for a couple.
Some power sockets in the house are very loose, quite dangerous.
The TV is very small, it’s a computer monitor actually.Arsen from Serbia – 22 May 2023 (9/10)
It is in the heart of the old city and a walking distance away from all the major attractions.
Place was clean, well furnished and it had all the appliances needed + the 1st aid, iron and ironing board,
toaster, coffee maker, etc.
What could be improved: Because of the location the area is also a bid loud.
People stay out late, and when shops close shop keepers are doing a lot of work in late hours
to close down the place and get it ready for the next day.
Still, I liked staying here.Steven from United Kingdom – 2 November 2024 (9/10)
Great location, neat and clean accommodation, good communication with owners. Would definitely go back.
What could be improved: Nothing.Rosaleen from Ireland – 9 October 2024 (9/10)

I had a wonderful stay at this spacious apartment in the heart of Seville. The location is perfect for exploring the city, and the apartment was big, well-equipped, and very clean. Check-in was super easy, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommend for a comfortable stay in Seville!
What could be improved: Some noise from construction works across the street, but it is understandable in the city center and it is not something that is the fault of the owner. All in all, it's not a big problem.
