Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about El Rincón de Aurora? The address – Plaza de los Curtidores – which literally means “tanners’ square,” and you can still feel that old artisan energy when you walk through the narrow cobblestone streets to get there. It’s tucked away in apartment 22 of this gorgeous building right in Seville’s old town, and honestly, finding it feels like discovering a secret. The entrance is easy to miss if you’re not paying attention, but once you’re inside… well, it’s one of those places that makes you want to text your friends immediately.

The thing about staying in the actual old town (not just “near” it like so many hotels claim) is that you’re literally living where Sevillanos have lived for centuries. I mean, you’ll hear the cathedral bells marking the hours, and if you’re lucky enough to get a room facing the right direction, you might catch glimpses of the Giralda tower between the traditional whitewashed buildings. The owners – and I’m pretty sure it’s family-run based on how personally they treat guests – have managed to keep all the character of the original architecture while actually making it comfortable to stay in. The floors have that slight unevenness that comes with age, and the walls are thick enough that you don’t hear every conversation from neighboring rooms, which is honestly a blessing in these old buildings.

What really sets this place apart is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re a two-minute walk from the Cathedral and Alcázar (I timed it), but you’re also surrounded by the kind of local bars where old men play dominoes and argue about fútbol. There’s this tiny bakery around the corner that opens at 7 AM and sells out of their orange-scented magdalenas by 9 – the kind of detail you only discover when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two. Parking is… well, it’s the old town, so forget about driving here. But the thing is, you won’t need to. Everything worth seeing is walkable, and when your feet get tired from all those cobblestones, you can just duck into one of the tapas bars that seem to appear every few meters. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it absolutely nails what it is: a genuine Sevillian experience that doesn’t feel like it was designed by a tourism committee. I stayed there during April (perfect timing for not-too-hot weather, by the way), and even when the narrow streets filled with other tourists during peak hours, stepping back into El Rincón felt like coming home.

Great welcome from our hostess Aurora who spent some time telling us what we could eat, see and do in Seville. Lovely apartment full of light, night and day. Washing machine a bonus! Our washing dried in 1 hour hung out on the roof top! Well equipped kitchen and comfortable bed.Great location close to Santa Cruz and restaurants

    What could be improved: Nothing!

The host met us upon arrival and gave us a thorough overview of the city, including recommendations on sights to see and restaurants to try. She was amazing, and it was incredibly helpful.

What could be improved: Everything was great – no issues

    Good price

  • Emma from United Kingdom – 23 February 2025 (9/10)

Aurora was a super host. She let us drop our bags early and took time to explain everything in the apartment and gave us great tips on where to eat and about the local cuisine. The apartment was comfortable and close to lots of the sights, all easily walkable.

What could be improved: Nothing Aurora could do about the noisy neighbours, they were a bit loud when they came back at night. To be honest it wasn't too late, we do tend to go to bed early so this probably wouldn't be an issue for most.

  • Nancy from United States – 14 May 2024 (10/10)

Excellent location and price compared to similarly situated options. The suggestions for local eating and where to eat was more extensive than the tour I had just paid for so much appreciated. Place was also more comfortable and welcoming than the tour included hotel and had a much better location. Close to everything and host will show you all top things to see. Highly recommended. Immaculate as well.

What could be improved: The bed had one of those plastic mattress protector things that make you sweaty, especially in menopause.

  • Gülfer from Turkey – 29 February 2024 (10/10)

Aurora was a great, friendly and very kind host. She took her time to explain all the best attractions to see, places to eat and drink in great detail. Her suggestions were very helpful. The location of the apartment could not be better, in the old town close to Alcazar, Sevilla Cathedral, best bars and pubs…

  • Chandika from New Zealand – 27 September 2023 (10/10)

The very best thing staying here is Aurora!!! She is truly amazing. Communicated with us way before we arrived… was there to greet us and give us amazing tips. The apartment had everything we needed. Highly reccommend it.

What could be improved: Nothing. All excellent.

  • Rita from Estonia – 14 June 2023 (10/10)

The location is perfect, a few minutes walking time to the Cathedral and all the other historic sites – we only used a bus to get to the bus station to get to Malaga. A lot of cafes and shops nearby. The host Aurora is absolutely lovely! She checked us in and let us drop off our bags way before check-in time (at 11 am), then continued with the cleaning. Aurora gave us a map of Sevilla and gave detailed information about places to see and eat, she also gave us a list of local foods to try and where to look for them. Aurora also booked a flamenco show tickets for us, we just had to show up and pay at the site. The warmest welcome I've experienced in a long time! The apartment is clean and cozy, kitchen well equipped, bathroom had everything you might need, a hairdryer included. The bed was comfy, the air conditioner worked without a hitch. The only window opens into the inner atrium, so it really is a bit dark, but we didn't spend that much time indoors for it to bother us. The house is pretty quiet. Highly recommended!

    What could be improved: None

  • Lisa from Ireland – 10 April 2023 (9/10)

Apartment was in the perfect location to explore Seville.
Aurora was so welcoming and was a wonderful host. She recommended loads for us to do and provided us with loads of essential local knowledge for the processions for Semana Santa.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here again!
