Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Seville, and Eva Recommends Castellar Pool & Terrace hit that sweet spot I’m always hunting for – you know, where you feel like you’ve discovered something special without paying through the nose for it. The name’s a bit of a mouthful, honestly, but Eva (whoever she is) knows what she’s talking about. It’s tucked away on the first floor of this traditional building on Calle Castellar, and I mean, you’re literally in the heart of the old town here. Not tourist-heart, but actual living-breathing Seville heart, if that makes sense.

What really got me was stepping out onto that terrace for the first time – I wasn’t expecting much from the narrow entrance downstairs, but then you’re suddenly looking out over these gorgeous rooftops with the cathedral bells chiming in the distance. The pool’s not huge (let’s be real, we’re talking about a centuries-old building in the historic center), but it’s perfect for cooling off after you’ve been wandering around those cobblestone streets all day. Actually, that’s the thing about this place – it gets the balance right between authentic neighborhood feel and having the stuff you actually want as a traveler. The rooms have this sort of modern-meets-traditional vibe going on, with decent air conditioning (crucial in Seville summers, trust me) and bathrooms that don’t make you feel like you’re camping.

The location is honestly what makes it special, though. You’re a five-minute walk from Plaza de Armas, but you’re also on a quiet enough street that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 3 AM. I could walk to basically everywhere I wanted to go – the cathedral, the Alcázar, even across to Triana for dinner. And here’s something the booking sites don’t tell you: there’s this little bakery around the corner that opens at 7 AM and makes these incredible pastries. The guy who runs it doesn’t speak much English, but he’ll hook you up with coffee and something sweet for like three euros. That’s the kind of neighborhood detail that makes a place stick with you, you know? The 8.5 rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it delivers on what it promises. Just don’t expect a concierge desk or room service; this is more like staying at your stylish friend’s place who happens to live in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.

  The location was great. We liked the Rooftop terrace, the effective air conditioning and the design and spaciousness of the apartment. It is good value and the host was informative and responsive. WiFi was good too and the apartment felt secure despite being at street level.
  
  What could be improved: The description in relation to the pool is misleading and it really should specify that the pool is “shared” The photos and descriptions make it look as if the pool is attached to the specific apartment (whereas in reality to shared with 8 others); however there is sufficient room for sunbathing. The ground floor rooms smell of damp and you can’t open the shutters as you face right on to the street. 2 pillows per person please!

  Location, great spacious apartment , two bathrooms & bedrooms . Great comfortable beds . Coffee / tea / washing up liquid provided great stay would recommend location is perfect. Lots of supermarkets nearby , 6 mins walk to setas de Seville
  
  What could be improved: Pool is almost next to someone’s sitting room felt a bit intrusive. It was cold though which was needed . We had an issue with the aircon during our stay, tried to reset it multiple times but our host did give us a complimentary late check out for the issue very attentive host ( heatwave while we went the aircon was needed )

  The spacious apartment was perfect for me and my two friends. The pool at the roof was lovely as well.
  we stayed here during the country wide power outage in April 2025, and Eva did everything she could to support us in this exceptional situation.
