Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Exe Isla Cartuja, I wasn’t expecting much. The address literally says “Olympic Stadium” and I thought, great, another soulless sports hotel. But you know what? I was completely wrong about this place.

The thing is, this hotel sits right in Isla de la Cartuja, which most tourists completely skip over, and that’s actually its biggest strength. You’re literally a stone’s throw from the Olympic Stadium (hence the address), but more importantly, you’re in this weird pocket of Seville that feels like a different world. The whole area was built up for Expo ’92, so there’s this interesting mix of futuristic architecture and green spaces that you won’t find in the cramped old city center. I mean, don’t get me wrong – you’ll want to cross the river to see the cathedral and all that, but it’s nice to come back somewhere that actually has breathing room and parking that doesn’t cost a fortune.

The rooms themselves are solid 4-star stuff – nothing revolutionary, but the beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the air conditioning works properly, which in Seville heat is basically non-negotiable. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. You’d think being near a stadium would mean noise, but honestly, most evenings it’s dead silent except for the occasional tram rumbling by. The staff genuinely seems to care too – when I mentioned I was heading to Triana for dinner, the front desk guy actually drew me a little map showing the best walking route along the river. That kind of thing makes a difference.

Here’s what sold me on the place though: step outside and you’re in Parque del Alamillo within minutes. It’s this massive green space where actual Sevillanos go to jog and walk their dogs – not a tourist in sight. And if you’re traveling in summer (which, let’s face it, is brutal here), having that escape is gold. The tram stop is right there too, so getting into the city center takes maybe 15 minutes, but you avoid all the chaos of staying right in Santa Cruz where you can’t move for tour groups. Plus, and this might sound weird, but there’s something satisfying about staying somewhere that feels like part of the real city rather than the theme park version of Seville that most hotels offer. The 8.2 rating makes sense – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises.

If interested in football, great as our visit coincided with a prominent match. So interesting seeing the place and the venue. Staff very helpful and room clean. Everything as expected.

What could be improved: Parking bit of a problem but no fault of hotel who were very helpful with access to parking and the problems getting to hotel beforehand

  • David from Australia – 19 April 2025 (8/10)

Big modern room. Comfortable bed- nice breakfast with view over stadium. Staff helpful.

What could be improved: Position wasn't great- needed a15 minute taxi to get to central district and still nearly paying E200/night.
Shower head kept falling off its attachment-'really dangerous till we knew to expect it.

  • Veronika from Slovakia – 30 March 2025 (8/10)

Nice hotel, we had fairly large room on the top floor with stadion view, which was really fun and interesting. Breakfast options were good and overall the food was tasty. Beds were very comfortable and bathroom in our room was also fairly large and nice. Although it seems that the hotel is a little far away from the city center, bus connections run frequently and directly to all must see spots in Seville. Direct bus also goes to the train station and close to the bus station, so it is possible to make day trips from here fairly easily. Seville itself is a beautiful city and we enjoyed our visit very much.

What could be improved: It was a little unfortunate that there was a big reconstruction going on on the field during our stay, so it was pretty noisy from early in the morning and also a little dusty, since our window faced the stadion (possibility of stadion view was actually the reason we booked it because we though it could be fun, which it still was, but this reconstruction was a little unfortunate). Also walls are pretty thin in here, so it was pretty noisy when our neighbours came to their room later in the night or were just talking a bit, we could hear a lot.

  • Alexandra from Hungary – 6 January 2025 (7/10)

The room is very clean. The bed is very comfortable and you have a lot of space.:-)

What could be improved: The first night we couldn't sleep because of the neighbor (thin walls) but the receptionist was very understanding and helpful. We got another room, otherwise everything is perfect.

    Amazing breakfast buffet!
