Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Exe Sevilla Macarena – it’s one of those places that surprised me in the best way possible. When I first pulled up to San Juan de Ribera street, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a pretty standard modern hotel building. But here’s the thing about this spot that most people don’t realize until they stay here: you’re actually in the perfect position to experience Seville like a local, not a tourist trapped in the Santa Cruz crowds.
The Macarena neighborhood is where real Sevillanos live and hang out, and I mean that in the most authentic way. You can walk to the ancient city walls in about three minutes – and I’m talking about sections that date back to the 12th century, not some reconstructed tourist attraction. The hotel itself feels refreshingly unpretentious for a 4-star place. The lobby has this clean, contemporary vibe without trying too hard to be boutique-y, and honestly, the staff here actually seems to enjoy their jobs, which makes a huge difference when you’re dealing with travel hiccups or need restaurant recommendations that aren’t from a generic list.
What really sold me on this place was discovering how connected you are to everything that matters. The Alameda de Hércules – which is basically Seville’s coolest plaza for evening drinks and people-watching – is a pleasant 10-minute stroll through actual neighborhoods where you’ll pass corner bars and local bakeries. And you know what? When you want to hit the cathedral or the Alcázar, you’re looking at maybe a 15-minute walk through the city center, but you get to come back to a area that actually goes quiet at night. I slept better here than I did at places right in the tourist zone where the flamenco music and bar crowds go until 3 AM. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – comfortable beds, decent bathroom, air conditioning that actually works (crucial in Seville summers), and windows that open if you want fresh air. Nothing groundbreaking, but everything works properly, which is more than I can say for some of the “charming” boutique places I’ve stayed at in other Spanish cities. The breakfast situation is perfectly adequate – typical European hotel spread with local touches, and the coffee is actually drinkable. Parking is available if you’re crazy enough to drive in Seville, though I’d honestly recommend just using this as your base and walking everywhere. The neighborhood has great bus connections too, if your feet give out from all the wandering you’ll inevitably do.

I like that it had the swimming pool, we opted for breakfast and it was various, I liked it very much, the check out online. It was not to far from the center, if you like walking it was like 30 min away.
What could be improved: The only thing to be changed should be the hours for the swimming pool, especially now in the summer. 12 pm it’s a bit late .Elaine from Canada – 11 June 2025 (9/10)
Hôtel very typical of the region and historical.
What could be improved: Not enough shade and chairs in the pool area.Raluca from Romania – 9 June 2025 (9/10)
Liked the pool on top of the hotel, the location is outside the walls, so easier to park.
What could be improved: It’s an older hotel, but the comes with its own charm, depends on how you see it.Irene from Canada – 8 June 2025 (8/10)
What could be improved: The drain in the bathtub wasn’t working properly and was never fixed.
Mladen from Croatia – 4 June 2025 (8/10)
The breakfast was very good. The staff amazing. Excellent location near the most of the bus stations for the City. The size of the room.
What could be improved: The air condition was not working well. The soundproof in the room is weak. One can hear people in room near by. TV channels in Spanish only.Penka from Bulgaria – 26 May 2025 (9/10)
The location is superb – just a brief walk from the renowned Macarena neighbourhood and the convenient 'Hop-On Hop-Off' bus stop, offering a direct view of the Parliament gardens. The beds were spacious and exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful stay. Breakfast is plentiful, featuring fresh fruits, delicious yogurt, and authentic Spanish specialties.

Nice location. Very well equipped and polite staff
What could be improved: There was a little confusion one day when we went to use the pool at the published opening time. Hit there and it was not open.Jason from United States – 20 May 2025 (7/10)
Location, staff
What could be improved: Better water pressure in the showerKonstantinos from Denmark – 18 May 2025 (8/10)
Spacious and clean room
What could be improved: Not very modernCarol from United Kingdom – 14 May 2025 (9/10)
Cleanliness and helpful, friendly staff.
What could be improved: No coffee/tea facilities in the room. The website shows the hotel with a parking sign, which I took to be for the hotel. I later found out that the hotel parking was on the other side of the hotel. Luckily, and by accident, I discovered that the parking that I used does have a discount for hotel guests. It could have been an expensive mistake.
