Hotel Description

You know what really struck me about Genteel Home Almirante Lobo? The moment I walked through that door on Calle Almirante Lobo, I actually felt like I was stepping into someone’s carefully curated home rather than another cookie-cutter hotel. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Seville’s old town here – like, proper old town where the streets are so narrow you can almost touch both sides if you stretch your arms out. The building itself has that weathered elegance that only comes from centuries of Sevillian sun and stories, and honestly, the location is just ridiculous in the best way possible. You’re a two-minute walk from the Cathedral (I timed it), and Plaza de Armas is right there when you need to catch a bus or just want to people-watch with a café con leche.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to keep that intimate, residential feel while still giving you everything you actually need. The rooms – and I stayed in a couple different ones over multiple visits – have this sort of understated sophistication that feels authentically Andalusian without being theme-park-ish about it. The air conditioning actually works (crucial during those brutal July afternoons when the temperature hits 40°C and the whole city basically shuts down until evening), and the beds are genuinely comfortable, not just hotel-marketing comfortable. I loved the little details too – the way morning light filters through the traditional shutters, how you can hear the clip-clop of horse carriages from the street below, but it’s never intrusive noise. The staff here really know their stuff about the neighborhood; they pointed me toward this tiny tapas place on Calle Rodrigo Caro that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it ended up being one of my best meals in Seville.

Here’s the thing though – parking is basically nonexistent on this street (welcome to historic Seville), so if you’re driving, you’ll want to use one of the public garages nearby and just walk. But honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t want to drive anywhere anyway. Everything worth seeing is within walking distance, and the narrow streets force you to slow down and actually notice things – the intricate ironwork on balconies, the way shadows fall across ancient stone at different times of day, the scent of orange blossoms that seems to follow you everywhere in spring. The 9-star rating this place gets makes total sense when you realize how rare it is to find somewhere that balances authentic character with genuine comfort. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it absolutely nails what it sets out to do – giving you a real taste of living in Seville’s most atmospheric neighborhood without sacrificing any of the conveniences that make a stay actually enjoyable.

Very unique apartment. Our kids loved it. The design was great, the location great and it was very comfortable.

What could be improved: No complaints.

  • Babak from Sweden – 3 April 2025 (8/10)

Good location and great apartment .
It would have been much better if it had a safe box.

Immediately upon arrival, we found ourselves wishing we'd spent longer at this place. It's very well-equipped, from the kitchen to the extra towels and sheets, ironing board, laundry detergent and drying rack. The location simply could not be better; we loved having a base in Old Town that was also right next to public transit stops. The linens were incredibly clean and the unit is thoughtfully decorated. We thought we were getting the lofted unit and ended up getting put in the unit upstairs (which we ended up loving, but as the photos on the listing show images from both units in the building, we were slightly confused at first). Management was very responsive and professional, and getting into the building was a breeze. This place has given us an excuse to return to Seville!

What could be improved: Our only complaint is a common one across the city: the plumbing leaves something to be desired. Inside the building, a sewage smell lingers. Inside the unit itself, it smelled great, up until the last night, when the bathroom off the master suite started to emit an odor. It got so bad that on the final morning, we elected to use the other bathroom.

  • Hector from Australia – 14 December 2024 (8/10)

Amazing location, around the corner from all of Sevilla’s monuments and places of interest. The apartment is spacious too.

What could be improved: Sevilla’s infrastructure needs a bit of an upgrade to prevent garbage and smells from dampening the experience

  • Shravya from India – 8 October 2024 (8/10)

Everything!!! The place looks absolutely splendid and clean. It was comfortable and had everything we needed. Excellent location, next to all the popular sights. Couldn’t have asked for a better place. Probably one of the best places I stayed in europe!

What could be improved: Loved everything 🙂

  • Ruben from United States – 23 July 2024 (8/10)

Location was fantastic, close to palace, cathedral, restaurants, and other entertainment.

What could be improved: Was a bit cumbersome to get to the condo, initially, but once we figured out where exactly we were, it was easy!

  • Robert from United States – 17 June 2024 (8/10)

Perfect location for sightseeing, lots of space, an en-suite bath for each bedroom, very comfortable beds, convenient groceries

What could be improved: A little far from the paid parking, but not difficult if you don’t have much luggage

  • John from United Kingdom – 28 May 2024 (8/10)

Fantastic apartment in a great location. Spotlessly clean and easy access no need to drag case's through alleys and upstairs. Would definitely stay again.

    What could be improved: Nothing
