Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Genteel Home Santa Cruz? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – it really does feel more like staying at someone’s well-appointed house than a typical hotel. I mean, it’s tucked right into the maze of narrow streets in Seville’s old town on Calle Ángeles, and honestly, I walked past it twice before spotting the discreet entrance. The whole area has this lived-in authenticity that you don’t get in the newer parts of the city.

The location is pretty brilliant, actually. You’re literally a five-minute wander from the Cathedral – and I mean a proper wander through those twisting medieval streets where you’ll inevitably get turned around at least once (everyone does). What I loved is that you can duck out for tapas at any of the tiny bars nearby, then retreat back to this quiet pocket when the tourist crowds get overwhelming. The street itself isn’t one of those main thoroughfares where tour groups thunder past at 7 AM, so you can actually sleep in if you want to. Parking is… well, it’s old town Seville, so forget about driving here. But there’s a decent public garage about ten minutes away if you absolutely need to bring a car.

The rooms have this sort of understated elegance – not flashy, but everything feels thoughtfully chosen. I particularly appreciated the attention to sound insulation, because let’s be honest, Seville can get pretty lively at night (especially during feria season). The 8.5 rating seems about right to me – it’s solidly good without being pretentious about it. Staff clearly know the neighborhood inside and out, which is invaluable when you’re trying to figure out which tapas place is worth the inevitable wait or when the best time to visit the Alcázar actually is. There’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t oversell itself but just quietly does everything well. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re staying somewhere locals might actually recommend rather than just another hotel that shows up first in search results, this is your spot.

    Fantastic location with great transport links. Very comfortable with more traditional furniture. Very comfortable beds. Apartment was really well prepared and spotlessly clean.

    What could be improved: Some of the furniture was a bit tired in appearance.
    Staff from the restaurant opposite the apartment’s front door seem to have decided that the apartment’s doorstep, on the street, is their preferred smoking spot. You constantly have to bypass a cloud of smoke and at least 2 smokers on the doorstep every time you want to enter or leave the apartment. There is always a pile of cigarette ends immediately outside or on the front doorstep.

    Great location, very clean, bed was comfortable, great kitchen.

    What could be improved: The front door to the building was very difficult to open, we spent way too much time messing with it. But customer was very responsive. The shower leaked a lot and got water all over floor and had to wipe up – both bathrooms. The stairs would be challenging for those with mobility issues.

    Location right in center of town.
    Close to lot of good restaurants.
    Nice clean rooms with attached bathrooms and fully furnished kitchen.

    What could be improved: Reaching property with luggage is a bit difficult during festival time.

    The location was at the heart of the old town. Close to every tourist attraction. Everything was walking distance. The property was very clean. Everyone was very helpful and they make sure we had a nice stay.

    The location is conveniently located in the city central. The apartment is very clean as well as provided well enough of household supplies.

    What could be improved: 4 of us got mosquito bites as souvenir. Mosquito are in the patio corridor area, they can be in the apartment when we were in/out or open the window for fresh air.

    Apartment located in the old town of Seville, close to Cathedral. Very comfortable, each bedroom with own bathroom. Very spacious common room with well equipped kitchen. Good communication with host, free room service once in the week.
