Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Holi-Rent Estrella? The building itself – it’s this gorgeous old Sevillian townhouse that you’d walk right past if you weren’t looking for it. I mean, that’s actually part of its charm. Tucked away on Calle Estrella (which is basically this narrow cobblestone street that most tourists miss), you’re literally in the heart of the old town but somehow removed from all the Cathedral crowds.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Seville rather than just visiting. You’re maybe a three-minute walk from those tiny tapas bars where locals actually eat – not the tourist traps around the Cathedral. There’s this little grocery store right around the corner that stays open late, which saved me more than once when I needed water or forgot to grab breakfast stuff. And here’s something I didn’t expect – the sounds. You get all these authentic neighborhood noises: kids playing in the courtyard next door, neighbors chatting on their balconies, church bells from three different directions. It’s loud in the most beautiful way, especially during the evening paseo when everyone’s out walking.
The apartment itself (because that’s really what this is – more like staying in someone’s well-appointed flat than a hotel) feels genuinely lived-in. The furniture’s comfortable without being fancy, and whoever designed the kitchen actually cooks because everything you need is there. The bathroom’s modern, which matters more than you’d think in these old buildings. Fair warning though – like most places in this part of town, you’ll hear your neighbors. The walls aren’t paper-thin, but when Señora Martinez upstairs watches her telenovelas… well, you’ll know about it. Also, if you’re coming in summer, that top floor gets warm during the day despite the AC working pretty hard.
What really sold me was how the staff (I think it’s family-run, though I’m not entirely sure) actually knows the neighborhood. When I asked about flamenco shows, they didn’t send me to the expensive tourist places – they told me about this tiny bar called Casa Anselma where there’s no set schedule, but if you show up after 11 PM, something magical usually happens. They were right. Parking’s tricky if you’re driving – honestly, just don’t. The tram stop is right there, and you can walk everywhere that matters anyway.
Look, it’s not luxury – the 7.6 rating tells you that. But it’s real Seville, and after staying in sterile hotel chains, that authenticity feels pretty luxurious. You’re paying for location and character, not marble bathrooms or concierge service. If you want to wake up to the sound of the Cathedral bells and fall asleep to guitar music drifting up from the street below, this is your place. Just pack earplugs if you’re a light sleeper, and embrace the fact that you’ll probably get a little lost finding it the first time – those old town streets weren’t designed for GPS.

Nearly everything was very good.
What could be improved: The oven didn’t work. The company warned me at the beginning that it might not work. I asked them to put this right and they started the process but hadn’t succeeded by the end of my stay four weeks later.Thanh from United States – 28 January 2025 (9/10)
Location, location! 5-10 min walk to cathedral, Carrefour grocery, restaurants (note: open for Xmas), shops. Clean, spacious and very comfortable. Staff quick to respond. Good water pressure for showers. We enjoyed the chess so much that we later brought ourselves a chess travel set. Haha! And I loved the wooden shutters for afternoon siestas. —Note: For family with small kids, the bar restaurant usually close around 22:00. But maybe management can have twin beds for kids in the master bedroom (for example, swap beds) so kids can sleep early.
What could be improved: Master bedroom bed squeaky whenever you moved, but mattress was comfortable. New oven did not work, but restaurants open on Xmas.Alexandrina from Canada – 11 October 2024 (9/10)
The apartment was lovely and very clean. The stuff was very nice and helpful.
What could be improved: The only down was the noise from the street.Deni from United States – 30 October 2023 (8/10)
The location was great. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The kitchen was well equipped.
What could be improved: The entire check-in process was awful. It started about a week before we arrived with texts telling us we had to complete a check-in form, which included pictures of our passport. The app was almost impossible to use. It would not download our passport pictures. My husband finally found a work-around, but it took hours to figure out. And he's a computer guy. A damage deposit was supposed to be paid the day of arrival. But the form, which the management company required us to submit days before arrival, required the deposit payment information in order to be submitted. A Catch 22. Then we had to install an app on our phones to unlock the door to the building and our apartment. This was a good system, in theory. But the app locked us out on our final day. We came back from our day's activities to find that we couldn't get in. We had to call the management company – luckily someone was there who reactivated the app. If it had been after business hours, we have no idea what we would have done. We could find no emergency contact number, and there is no one on site to be of assistance.
There is a parking space in a garage around the corner. Believe the picture of the parking spot on the booking site. It is super tiny. A smart car or motorcycle would fit – but not anything else. That was fine – we were warned. But we had to call the management company to get directions to the garage so we could check to see if our car might fit; we could find no information about its location online or inside the apartment.
I would have rated the property a ten if it had not been such a hassle with the management company.Charlene from Canada – 8 October 2023 (9/10)
Locaction was perfect
What could be improved: Check-in process was a oittle confusingSylvain from Canada – 3 July 2022 (8/10)
comfy, awesome location close to everything
What could be improved: there is a restaurant downstairs that gets a bit noisy at night. Can be a bother if you have kids or early sleepers.Zsuzsa from Hungary – 30 March 2025 (5/10)
The location was fantastic, 5 minutes walk from the Cathedral and Alcazar. The flat itself was good and well equipped.
What could be improved: We reserved this flat – among other reasons – that there was balcony. There were in principle 3 balconies – to both bedrooms and living room – but we couldn't use them. Between the rooms' doors and the balcony there were iron grids with deadlock and they didn't give us the key. After some correspondence they said that the owner doesn't allow to open the lock because of security reasons and "soory for the inconvience". As we couldn't go out to the balcony, we didn't even see the sky only a liitle piece from the kitchen and the bathroom. Other thing: The bed frame in the double room is moving and crack, impossible to sleep on it. We also wrote them, the answer was that they know about the problem, but sorry for the inconvinience. So we removed the bed frame and put the mattress on the floor. The warderobes in the twin room: 2 were closed and the 3rd one was full with boxes and some home appliance. The flat is on the 1st floor in a very narrow street (Calle) and below the window of the twin room there's a restaurant's tables, thus the room is very noisy in the evening.
The wi-fi is very bad, I'd say useless. Honestly we were be entitled to compensation because of the a/m mentioned reasons.Vsobchak from United Kingdom – 15 February 2023 (1/10)
Almost nothing. We are frequent travellers but this was a nightmare. The location is very good…BUT, you have a restourant under your windows and you 'enjoy' the noise from morning to late night.
What could be improved: 1. We were asking for a possible early (just 1.5 hour) check-in and were told it would be possible if they had no guests before our check-in. Booking.com gave us a free yaxi ride from the airport…when we arrived – there wasn't a key in the lockbox and no messages regarding our early check-in. So we waited on the street. At 3 pm – nobody came and we rang to the admin and were told – "I am coming in 20 min." No apologies whatsoever.
2. The elevator. One can have a heart attach when it stops – a real earthquake! Not recommended to pregnant women!
3. We had no hot water for 3 days and when they replaced the boiler in the shower we had just a very hot boiled water and no cold. one.
4. They force you to fill a mass of paperwork and demand 100.00 of the deposit what you can't see when you book the property.
I can carry on… So – NOT RECOMMENDED at all.Florence from France – 8 April 2025 (8/10)
Paula from Brazil – 15 July 2024 (7/10)
What could be improved: O barulho.
