Hotel Description

You know what strikes you first about Hommyhome San Lorenzo? It’s tucked into this gorgeous old building on Martínez Montañés street, and honestly, you’d walk right past it if you weren’t looking – which is actually part of its charm. The whole block has that authentic Sevillian feel where locals are still hanging laundry from wrought-iron balconies and the morning sounds are church bells, not tour buses.

I mean, staying here puts you right in the thick of the old town without the tourist circus. You’re maybe a five-minute walk to the Cathedral (though you’ll probably get turned around at least once in these winding streets – everyone does), and the Barrio Santa Cruz is close enough that you can duck in for dinner but far enough that you’re not dealing with the crowds when you want to just… exist. The building itself has that solid, weathered stone thing going on that makes you feel like you’re actually in Spain, not some sanitized hotel version of Spain. The 4-star rating feels right – it’s polished and comfortable without being stuffy about it.

What really gets me is how they’ve managed to keep the old-world character while making everything actually work properly. The AC doesn’t sound like a freight train (crucial for Seville summers), the WiFi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and the beds are genuinely comfortable – not just “eh, it’ll do for a few nights” comfortable. The staff seems to actually live here, which sounds obvious but you’d be surprised how rare that is. They’ll tell you which tapas place around the corner is worth it (there are like six within a block) and which metro stop is easiest when you’re dragging luggage.

The neighborhood gets pretty quiet at night, which is perfect if you’ve spent the day walking on cobblestones and need actual sleep. Though if you’re here during Semana Santa or Feria season – well, all bets are off, but that’s Seville for you. Morning coffee happens naturally at the little café two doors down where the owner will remember your order by day three. And parking? Forget about it, honestly – just use the public lots nearby or embrace the walking life. That 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve been here a few days. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it nails that sweet spot of feeling like you’re staying somewhere real while still having everything you need. Plus, when you tell people you stayed in the old town on Martínez Montañés, you sound like you know what you’re doing.

Reviews

  • Shauna from Australia – 3 October 2024 (10/10)

Very central to all main attractions. Beautiful apartment with good facilities. Close to the river and the centre of Seville. We were met personally, which was helpful with the explanation of how things worked. Would definitely stay again.

What could be improved: No lift and 2 flights of stairs, but that didn't affect us too much except when getting luggage up and down.

  • Elaine from United Kingdom – 29 June 2023 (10/10)

Great location, very clean, ideal having 2 bathrooms & communication was first class

What could be improved: Shower in bathroom leaked a little but apart from that nothing negative about apartments.

  • Maciek_b from Poland – 16 June 2023 (8/10)

locarion was great, size for 6 was excellent

What could be improved: can’t complain

  • Cathy from United Kingdom – 8 June 2023 (9/10)

    very spacious and good location

  • Anne from United Kingdom – 14 May 2023 (9/10)

This apartment was in a great location to explore Seville. Very clean, well equipped and comfortable.
Air conditioning was super efficient & lovely to walk back into after a long day in 30+ degrees.
Communications were efficient with local company – use of Whatsapp made it very easy.
Lovely little local bar just around the corner for aperitifs before dinner (Bar San Lorenzo).
Also the square at the end of the street has a great atmosphere at night.

What could be improved: Little niggles, but nothing that would spoil a stay really.
Only 1 wine glass (lots of champagne flutes though 😆).
In master bedroom, the switch controlling the roller shutter has an annoying light which blinks constantly and is super bright! We had to put a plaster over it to dim it slightly.
Finally, the ensuite bathroom in master bedroom takes a bit of getting used to (see earlier reviews from other guests) 😊

  • Christina from United States – 6 May 2023 (10/10)

Location is convenient, beds are comfortable, shower water is strong.

  • William from United Kingdom – 6 April 2023 (9/10)

    location, quality of rooms

What could be improved: breakfasting area a little cramped, encouraged to purchase a guided cathedral tour but then sent to the wrong meeting location (resulting in 20 mins of lost tour).

  • Dinesh from United Kingdom – 14 February 2023 (9/10)

Beautiful apartment in a great location, has everything you need too!

What could be improved: See through toilet in en suite

  • Violeta from Romania – 22 January 2023 (9/10)

Really nice place , located în a great neighbourhood, so local, with local restaurant near by
Rooms very nice, all facilities so useful

  • Paulius from Lithuania – 18 January 2023 (8/10)

What could be improved: A little run down, no flowers as per the photos.
