Hotel Description

You know what? I’ve walked past Hotel Macià Sevilla Kubb dozens of times on Plaza de Carmen Benítez before I actually stayed there, and honestly, it never quite registered as anything special from the outside. But here’s the thing about this place – it’s one of those quietly excellent hotels that does everything right without making a big show of it.

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Seville at all. You’re right in Nervión, which I mean, most tourists skip entirely because they think everything worth seeing is in the old center. But being here puts you maybe fifteen minutes from the cathedral by metro (the San Bernardo stop is literally around the corner), and you’re walking distance to some genuinely great tapas spots that locals actually use. There’s this little bar called El Rinconcillo – well, not the famous one in the center, just a neighborhood place – about three blocks away where you can get jamón that’s honestly better than what you’ll pay double for near the Giralda. The staff at the Kubb seem to know all these places too, which is refreshing.

What really got me about this hotel though is how they’ve managed to feel both modern and comfortable without that sterile business-hotel vibe. The rooms are spacious – I mean properly spacious, not “spacious for Europe” – and the beds are actually good. You know how hotel pillows are usually either concrete blocks or sad pancakes? These are normal human pillows. The bathrooms have decent water pressure too, which honestly shouldn’t be remarkable but somehow is in a lot of Spanish hotels. I stayed during the April fair season when half of Seville sounds like a permanent party, but the rooms are well-insulated. You can hear the city if you want to, but it won’t keep you awake.

The breakfast is solid – nothing fancy, but they do proper Spanish tomato bread and the coffee doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since yesterday. There’s parking underneath, which is huge if you’re driving because trying to park in central Seville is basically a nightmare. Check-in was smooth, staff spoke English well but weren’t weird about it when I tried my terrible Spanish, and the whole place just feels… competent, I guess? Like they’ve figured out what travelers actually need versus what looks good in photos.

Look, it’s not going to blow your mind or become the highlight of your trip to Andalusia. But sometimes what you want is a really well-run hotel that lets you focus on exploring the city instead of dealing with hotel nonsense. The 8.5 rating makes sense – it’s the kind of place where everything works, the location is smarter than it first appears, and you’ll probably book it again next time you’re in Seville because you remember sleeping well and not having to think about anything. Plus, you’re close enough to walk to the river and far enough from the tourist crowds that you can actually breathe.

  Easy walk to all attractions. Good sized room with good bed and bathroom. Garage attached.

  What could be improved: Booked via booking.com at195 euros for two nights. Surprised when bill showed up in credit card that I’d been charged in GBP without having been asked and obviously at a very poor exchange rate. Refunded the difference when queried but shouldn’t happen so leaves slightly bad taste……

  Location very good. All modern conveniences, but close to old city.

  Hotel is easy to find, local underground car park is a 5-10 minute walk away. Local bar as you come out of hotel and turn right had very good food despite its appearance.
  
  What could be improved: Room ( yellow and black colours) was definitely not suited to staying for more than one night. No wardrobe as such just a rotating unit with a small rail. My wife hung her clothes on the rail and I had to live out of my suitcase. Lack of storage and the frosted glass for the bathroom and shower were off-putting. Location was out of the centre
