Hotel Description

So I’m walking through Seville’s old town – you know, dodging the tourist groups and trying not to get lost in those impossibly narrow streets – when I stumble onto Plaza de la Alianza. Honestly, I’d walked past this little square a dozen times before without really noticing it, but there’s Hotel Palacio Alcázar sitting right there like it owns the place. And honestly? It kind of does. The building itself is this gorgeous converted palace (the name gives it away, I guess), with that classic Sevillian architecture that makes you want to Instagram everything, but somehow it doesn’t feel touristy or fake. The entrance is actually pretty understated – no massive signs or doormen making a fuss, just this beautiful wooden door that opens into what feels like stepping back a few centuries.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to keep all the historic character while actually making it comfortable to stay in. I mean, you’ve got these incredible original tiles everywhere, soaring ceilings with exposed beams, and a central courtyard that’s absolutely perfect for morning coffee (they serve it out there when the weather’s nice, which is basically always). The rooms are surprisingly spacious – something you definitely can’t take for granted in the old quarter where some hotels feel like converted closets. Mine had this massive window that looked out over the plaza, and I spent way too much time just watching the locals go about their day. You know what’s interesting? The plaza stays pretty quiet even during peak season because it’s just off the main tourist routes. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the Cathedral and all that craziness, but it feels like you’ve found this secret pocket of calm.

The staff here actually knows their stuff about the neighborhood – not just the obvious attractions, but like where to get the best montaditos at 2 AM (Bar Alfalfa, by the way) and which flamenco shows aren’t total tourist traps. They helped me figure out this whole confusing street parking situation too, which honestly saved my sanity because driving in Seville’s old town is… well, it’s an adventure. The 8.5 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything just works really well. The WiFi actually works, the AC keeps up with Seville’s brutal summer heat, and the beds are properly comfortable. I stayed there during Semana Santa one year, and while the whole city was absolutely insane with crowds, coming back to this quiet little plaza felt like having a secret hideout. Sure, you’ll pay a bit more than some of the places further out, but when you’re stumbling home from a long night in Triana and you’re five minutes from your bed instead of twenty… totally worth it.

Reviews

  • Steven from United Kingdom – 4 June 2025 (9/10)

The hotel was in a perfect location for our visit to the old town.

What could be improved: We pre booked the hotel a couple of weeks before our visit. If We had booked on the day of our visit it was nearly half of the price we had paid but we enjoyed our stay nonetheless.

  • Lysmariam from Puerto Rico – 2 June 2025 (9/10)

The hotel location is Prime !! and the Roof top is the Best and has an amazing view for the sunset and for the evening! Spectacular pictures!

What could be improved: Not all Taxi know about that they can drop off us inside the area near the hotel lobby, and the one we take at the train station drop off in front of the Alcazar 🤦‍♀️ so we need to take all baggages through the road roots until the hotel

  • Spohn from United States – 31 May 2025 (9/10)

Excellent location right in the old town square. Very walkable to great historical sites. Bars, restaurants, shopping right outside your door!

  • Tonci from Croatia – 25 May 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: The location and staff are excellent, the rooftop bar is the best of all. Recommended

  • Bretz from United States – 21 May 2025 (9/10)

The location of the hotel is superb; a 3 minute walk to meet our tour group of Cathedral and Alcazar, great restaurants and shops close by. They have staff at desk 24/7 which was great for us since we arrived late. Staff was very accommodating. We enjoyed rooftop drinks at the bar. Water pressure in shower was great. Even though there was some noise in the nearby plaza, it was quiet in our room.

What could be improved: We had a ground floor room with queen and bed in loft accessible by a steep spiral staircase, which came as a surprise but was OK for us. We had an issue with odors coming from bathroom drains and were advised not to put paper in the toilet. We understood and complied with the request but it was inconvenient.

  • John from United States – 19 May 2025 (9/10)

Great location- Very nice, clean hotel with only 15 rooms

What could be improved: Staff was courteous and helpful but sometimes no one available for several minutes. Very expensive room rate on the weekend.

  • Maria from United States – 29 April 2025 (9/10)

Our third time here! excellent in every sense

  • Michele from Canada – 24 April 2025 (9/10)

Very nice, clean, beautiful view of the Giralda. Fantastic staff! All very nice and helpful.

What could be improved: It’s located in the historic centre , therefore parking is a little way away. But all good.

  • John from Portugal – 21 April 2025 (9/10)

Location is superb for watching parades of Semana Santa.
Breakfast on roof terrace always pleasant.

  • Adrian from United Kingdom – 17 April 2025 (9/10)

The location was perfect. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

What could be improved: We happened to be there during holy week, which is their busiest time in Seville, so the prices were steep.
