Hotel Posada del Lucero Overview

You know what struck me first about Hotel Posada del Lucero? Walking up to it on Almirante Apodaca, I almost missed it entirely – and honestly, that’s part of its charm. It’s tucked into this narrow street in Seville’s old town like it’s been there forever (which, knowing Seville, it probably has). The building itself has that weathered elegance you only find in Andalusia, where the stone seems to hold onto centuries of stories. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Cathedral – I could hear the bells from my room, which sounds annoying but was actually pretty magical at sunset.

The inside surprised me more than I expected. See, a lot of these old town hotels try too hard to be either ultra-modern or museum-piece traditional, but Posada del Lucero gets the balance right. The lobby has these beautiful tiles (azulejos, if you want to sound local) but they’ve kept things comfortable rather than stuffy. My room was on the second floor – fair warning, Spanish second floors are what Americans call the third floor, and yes, there’s an elevator but it’s one of those tiny European ones. The room itself was spacious by old town standards, with shutters that actually kept the afternoon sun out (crucial in Seville, trust me). The air conditioning worked properly too, which isn’t always a given in these historic buildings.

What really won me over was how the staff seemed to know the neighborhood inside and out. When I asked about dinner, they didn’t just point me toward the touristy places near the Cathedral – they sent me to this little tapas bar three blocks away where I ended up having one of the best meals of my trip. The front desk guy (I think his name was Carlos?) even warned me that the street gets pretty lively on weekends since there are a few bars nearby, but honestly, it wasn’t bad – just sounds of people having a good time, not rowdy chaos. Parking was exactly what you’d expect in old town Seville – meaning forget about it. But they’ll arrange garage parking for you about a five-minute walk away, which is honestly better than most places can offer. The breakfast was simple but good – proper Spanish coffee, fresh bread, decent selection of local stuff. Nothing fancy, but after walking around Seville’s cobblestones all day, you’ll appreciate having a comfortable base that feels authentically local rather than like a tourist bubble.

We had an excellent 5 night stay. The room was great, at the front of the hotel. We thought it would be noisy, but it wasn’t at all. The bed was really comfy.
We thought the staff really friendly and helpful. Not just a few, but all of them.

  • Peter from United States – 13 June 2025 (8/10)

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff was great. Good location.

What could be improved: The hotel is a labyrinth. It can take some time getting use to the corridors leading to the rooms. We actually got lost twice trying to find our room.

  • Peter from United Kingdom – 12 June 2025 (9/10)

Staff absolutely great. Service fantastic. Gym was small but equipment modern and well maintained.

What could be improved: Nothing that we can think of.

    It’s all in the detail.
We had an absolutely impeccable stay with top notch five-star service. Very pleasant and helpful staff, always accommodating, always at hand and nothing was too much of a problem for them.
Our room was spotless, we were upgraded to a premium room at no charge when they found out it was my husband’s birthday, and we had a bottle of Cava delivered to our room on our last night.
The bed was massive, the sheets and towels are of highest quality, and everything was brilliant.

What could be improved: There was nothing not to like. If I were to suggest one improvement is to turn on the air conditioning in the gym, but that is a very minor details
