Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to Hotel San Gil on Parras street – it’s tucked into this narrow lane in Seville’s old town where you’ll miss it if you’re not paying attention. But stepping inside, you immediately get why this place has such a solid reputation. The building itself has that authentic Andalusian feel without trying too hard, you know? It’s one of those spots where the original architecture actually enhances the experience instead of fighting against modern hotel needs.
What really struck me about staying here was how perfectly positioned you are for exploring Seville’s heart without dealing with the chaos of the main tourist drags. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Cathedral – I mean, you can hear the bells if you’re on the upper floors – but Parras street itself stays pretty quiet, especially in the evenings when the day-trippers head back to their buses. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too, which is rarer than you’d think. They’ll point you toward the little tapas place around the corner on Calle Alemanes that doesn’t even have a sign, or tell you which entrance to use for the Alcázar to skip the longest lines.
The rooms themselves are what I’d call thoughtfully done – not trying to be flashy, but everything works the way it should. Air conditioning that actually cools the space (crucial during Seville summers, trust me), decent WiFi throughout, and bathrooms that feel properly renovated without losing the building’s character. I stayed in one of the interior-facing rooms, which was smart because the street-side ones can get a bit noisy when people are heading to the bars later at night. The beds are comfortable enough that I actually slept well despite being excited to explore every day. One small thing – the elevators are on the smaller side, so if you’re traveling with massive suitcases, just be prepared for that.
What I really appreciated was how the hotel strikes this balance between being professionally run and maintaining some personality. Check-in was smooth, housekeeping was consistent, but it never felt corporate or sterile. The breakfast area has this lovely little courtyard feel, and while it’s not going to blow your mind, it’s solid fuel for a day of walking around the city. You’ll want to get down there early though – by 9 AM it gets pretty busy with other guests figuring out their day plans.
The 8.1 rating makes perfect sense to me. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Seville, but for the location and the price point, it delivers exactly what most travelers actually need. You’re paying for that prime old town spot without the premium you’d face at the big luxury hotels near the Cathedral. Plus, being on a quieter street means you get the authentic neighborhood feel – there’s a little grocery store two doors down, and you’ll see actual locals going about their daily routines instead of just other tourists.

Lovely room, nicely decorated and with everything we needed. Very quiet at night despite being in a central location..Hotel has a lovely courtyard to enjoy and they helped look after our bags and let us use the pool even after checkout.
What could be improved: In the morning we could hear all the noise of the cleaners with their bin bags just outside our door as they cleared other rooms on the same floor. Given we were trying to have a lazy Sunday it was a little bit annoying. Some of the sun loungers were cracked and need replacing. Two guests fell through them in the hour we spent there.Lynne from United Kingdom – 6 June 2025 (8/10)
The room was a good size but the window faced inwards.
The pool was lovely and clean but there were no sunbeds or chairs around it so when you wanted to swim it was on another level.
What could be improved: We had to ask for a kettle, coffee and milk. The cups did t get changed. Had to ask twice for another pillow.
The location was a long way away from the main attractions.Gypsyfeet from United Kingdom – 29 May 2025 (8/10)
Excellent and a sumptuous breakfast spread! Good location. The selling point is its fabulous courtyard which makes chilling in the evenings very pleasant experience.
The hotel does not have many amenities except for a pool.Kathleen from United Kingdom – 27 May 2025 (8/10)
Lovely outdoor spaces and the location was good near to the Macarena where there were frequent buses into the centre of Seville. Also 5 minutes walk in the other direction from the hotel to lots of cafes, bars and restaurants.

I loved the character and interior decoration of the hotel. The courtyard was lovely and great to eat in. The sun deck and pool a bonus in the city. . Staff were friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: The bar looked lovely but it took ages for staff to come and take an order for coffee during the day. time.John from Ireland – 24 May 2025 (8/10)
The location was excellent, we walked almost everywhere. The staff were so helpful and friendly. We didn't have the breakfast as it looked average. We had one evening meal which was ok.
What could be improved: It would have been lovely if we had a kettle.and cups in the room to make a hot drink.Luke from United States – 14 May 2025 (9/10)
charming, clean, comfortable and good location.

Nice helpful staff, great location with a 15-30 minute walk to main sights. Some nice bars and places to eat close to the hotel. The hotel has a nice courtyard and restaurant if you don’t want to leave the hotel.
What could be improved: Pool was too good to use but would be better in summer months.Steven from United Kingdom – 10 May 2025 (9/10)
This was our second year running staying at Hotel San Gil. We were allocated a lovely room in the old, original part of the building. The room was larger than most and was very comfortable. The view was over the inner courtyard which has orange trees and other specimen trees. The breakfast caters for everyone’s tastes – wonderful fresh fruit, pastries, cakes, cheeses, cold meats, yoghurts etc etc. The hotel is located in a quiet district that is only 25 minute walk to the main sights and 5 minutes from Hercules Plaza with a good choice of tapas bars etc.
This year the hotel has introduced a new 3 course menu for half board clients and it is really nice. My wife has an allergy to onions and one evening every main course had onion, so chef cooked a dish for her that was fantastic.
What could be improved: There genuinely is nothing we didn’t like. Staff are friendly and very helpful. We asked for a kettle for our room and the reception staff produced a tray with kettle, cups and saucers, sugar, tea bags and spoons. Nothing is too much trouble for them.J from United Kingdom – 4 May 2025 (8/10)
Location , courtyard , pool and staff
What could be improved: The room. All standard rooms are supposed to be 23 meters squared and whilst room 235 probably met the brief , there is a wasted room near the wardrobe with an extra internal door which makes the room feel small . Normally we might have asked to changed but with all systems down on the day of arrival due to power cut we realised that would be difficult . Having unpacked everything we just lived with it .
The layout and lack of storage as in no bedside tables plus the lack of charging sockets in the right location ( only one socket by side of bed ) and no accessible socket by desk for laptop was made this stay here not as comfortable as our stay last year ( also booking a room of same standard 237 – layout and sockets much more comfortable. )
