Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Hoteles del Sur? The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that feels completely at odds with the bustling energy of Calle Lumbreras just outside your door. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Seville’s old town – I could walk to the Cathedral in about eight minutes, and the Real Alcázar is practically around the corner – but somehow this place manages to feel like a quiet refuge from all that tourist madness.
The building itself has that classic Sevillian charm without trying too hard, if that makes sense. Three stars might sound modest, but honestly, they’ve nailed the essentials here. The rooms are spotlessly clean (which, let’s be real, is half the battle in older European hotels), and the air conditioning actually works – crucial when you’re dealing with those brutal Andalusian summers. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the neighborhood. When I mentioned wanting to find a good tapas place that wasn’t crawling with tourists, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic brochure. He actually drew me a little map showing how to cut through the side streets to get to this tiny bar on Calle Zaragoza where locals actually hang out. That kind of insider knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to experience real Seville, not just the postcard version.
The location is honestly hard to beat – you’re close enough to everything that matters but tucked away on a side street that doesn’t get the constant stream of tour groups that plague some of the main drags. I stayed here in late spring, and mornings were beautifully quiet until around 9 AM when the city starts to wake up. The 8.1 rating makes perfect sense to me because this isn’t trying to be luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises. There were a couple of minor quirks (the elevator is one of those tiny European ones that fits maybe two people and a suitcase), but nothing that would stop me from booking again. Actually, I kind of loved how the breakfast room opens onto this small interior courtyard – very typical Sevillian style – where you can sit with your coffee and plan your day without feeling rushed. If you’re looking for a solid, unpretentious base to explore one of Spain’s most gorgeous cities, this place gets it right.

Great location, close to city center, close to many shops and restaurants and close to a bus stop.

The apartment I stayed in was great, it had a modern bathroom with everything to be expected, a very comfortable bed, a nice open plan living room and kitchen with a big sofa, nice TV and a decent coffee machine and a fully equipped kitchen. The courtyard outside was lovely with a fountain, so one can hear flowing water at night. We stayed in an apartment in the smaller courtyard of the two on the website, not the one with the many flowers, but still very nice.
What could be improved: On the first day the apartment had a weird waste smell, but it disappeared, a minor issue.
The main issue, which really put a dent in our stay, was gaining access. We had problems entering on the first afternoon, but after about ten minutes we got in so thought nothing more of it. In the evening we had problems again, but it took us over an hour to get into the room! Nobody answered the emergency number at all and we were trying for forty minutes. The issue was that the battery in the door lock was dying and nobody had changed it. The system works fine if there is no problem, but ours wouldn't even respond for the first twenty minutes. I've got the feeling that this isn't the first time as all the rooms have normal key safes with a key in them. We could've been given that code and entered but nobody answered the emergency number. It's pretty unprofessional when this has very obviously happened many times before.
It's a shame because it's a nice place.
They changed the battery in the morning. It worked fine.Harriet from New Zealand – 9 November 2024 (8/10)
Nice clean and tidy apartments with everything you need for a good stay. Good kitchen and comfortable bed.
What could be improved: The host was quite slow to reply on WhatsApp so we had to do a bit of waiting around. Not a lot of sunlight.Louise from Australia – 25 October 2024 (9/10)
Large and clean apartment. Very comfortable pillow and bed. Nice bathroom. Good to have a washing machine. Lots of eateries nearby.
What could be improved: There was nothing we didn't like.David from Australia – 25 September 2024 (8/10)
Location, security, cleanliness, value for money
What could be improved: Very hard beds, no TV in main room, no covers on duvets, not enough pillows, all of which are easy to fixKamila from Poland – 7 August 2024 (8/10)
It is a nice apartment, but very dark, all windows are from the courtyard. But location is soo great, close to the restaurants and beautiful promenade. It was clean.
Jessica from Australia – 14 May 2024 (9/10)
I wasn’t sure what to expect here but it was actually a huge apartment, there was air con, it was clean, we had a washing machine in our room which was super handy. No staff on site but they were very responsive to messages on booking.com and WhatsApp. There was a lift.
What could be improved: It was fineZoe from Switzerland – 2 May 2024 (9/10)
Easy to enter, safe with codes, appartement 3 was clean, big and comfortable
What could be improved: A bit far from the center
Cleaner that rings at the door at 8.30am….Levente from Hungary – 10 April 2024 (7/10)
Perfect location, nearby a long street with restaurants, bars where the locals eat.
Nice, cosy apartment.
What could be improved: Dark inside, lamps are needed in daytime as well.Vincent from United Kingdom – 9 April 2024 (9/10)
Location was good on a fairly quiet street and close to the square with lots of cafes and restaurants to chose from. it a 10 minute walk to the bus stop by the river.
What could be improved: It would be useful to have some provisions provided in the kitchen such as oil, salt pepper. For a 3 day stay it is wasteful to buy these items. Most apartments we have stayed in will have these basic items. There was also an issue checking in as we did not receive the door code instructions until we arrived at the apartment and I had to call and text the owner several times. I did email the day before we arrived and was assured I would receive on the day. Something clearly went wrong
