You know what struck me first about Indiana House? The name is completely misleading – there’s nothing remotely American about this place, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it so charming. Tucked away on Calle el Jovo (which, let me tell you, is one of those narrow cobblestone streets that barely fits a Smart car), this 4-star spot feels like someone’s stylish grandmother decided to open her doors to travelers who actually appreciate authentic Sevillian living.

The “Historical Center” part of the name isn’t just marketing fluff – you’re literally a two-minute stumble from the Cathedral, and I mean that in the best way possible. The building itself has that worn-smooth stone facade that screams centuries of stories, but inside it’s been updated thoughtfully. Not over-renovated like some places that strip away all character, but carefully restored so you get those gorgeous original tiles and thick walls that actually keep the summer heat out. The space accommodates up to 5 people, which is perfect if you’re traveling with family or friends who don’t mind sharing that intimate, almost apartment-like vibe.

What I really love about this area – and the hotel gets this right by embracing it rather than fighting it – is how genuinely local it feels. You’ll hear church bells (obviously), but also the clip-clop of horse carriages heading to the tourist spots, and in the evenings, actual neighbors chatting from their windows. The 8.3 rating makes total sense because while everything works well and the place is undeniably atmospheric, it’s not trying to be a sleek international chain. There are quirks – the shower pressure varies depending on what the upstairs neighbors are doing, and good luck getting a taxi to find you without very specific directions. But honestly? That’s part of the charm. You’re staying in a real neighborhood where the corner bar serves perfect montaditos and the elderly gentleman who runs the tiny grocery store will remember your face after day two. If you want sterile perfection, book somewhere in the modern part of town. If you want to feel like you’re actually living in Sevilla for a few days, this is your spot.

  The location was perfect. Every important tourist place was just at a walking distance. Our host was great, giving us very nice recommendations. We really appreciate it.

  Great location, met our needs, lots of hot water.
  
  What could be improved: Acoustics of house very loud. Very creaky spiral backless stairs, AC in 2nd bedroom didn’t cool well. Step-stool at top of stairs would be unsuitable for young children.

  The location is perfect. Next to the main squares and attractions. The house accommodates 5 people easily. Kitchen is fully equipped and the wifi is excellent.

  The location was very good. The master bedroom and bathroom were fine.
  
  What could be improved: The stove had broken knobs or missing knobs. The worst was the bathroom for the second bedroom. The access was dangerous, with a step down and a very large step up, with a little stool to supposedly help! One could easily trip and fall down the stairs! The shower door was broken, so water spilled out when showering.

  Location was everything with this apartment! It’s a clean and super cozy three story apartment! It will be even better when the second bathroom is remodeled as owner states in reviews! Owner is incredibly kind and a great communicator. Plus the apartment stays very cool even when returning to the apartment and having shut off the AC.
  
  What could be improved: We chose not to use the kitchen to cook as appliances are counter type ones (microwave and a counter toaster oven.) Not a big deal for us but we do always prefer to cook our own breakfast and dinners during travel.
