You know what struck me first about IVY HOUSE? It’s tucked right into the heart of Seville’s old town on Calle San Vicente, but somehow it doesn’t feel touristy at all. I mean, you’re literally walking distance from the Cathedral and Alcázar – we’re talking maybe eight minutes on foot – but the street itself has this quiet, residential vibe that most visitors never discover. The building feels authentically Sevillian, with those gorgeous traditional tiles and wrought-iron details that actually belong there, not like they were slapped on for Instagram appeal.

The staff here genuinely gets it. Check-in was refreshingly normal – no overly rehearsed welcome speech, just friendly people who clearly know the neighborhood inside out. They’ll tell you which tapas bars the locals actually go to (not the ones with English menus plastered outside), and honestly, their restaurant recommendations were spot-on. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully comfortable – nothing flashy, but everything works properly, which is surprisingly rare in historic buildings. The air conditioning actually cools the room, the shower has decent pressure, and the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up with a backache. Small details matter when you’re exploring Seville all day, you know?

What really won me over was how the place handles the old town reality. Parking in this part of Seville is basically impossible, but they’ve sorted out arrangements with nearby garages and actually give you clear directions (not just “park somewhere nearby” like most places). The walls are thick enough that you don’t hear every conversation from the hallway, which is a blessing when Spanish families are excitedly planning their next day’s adventures at midnight. And here’s something I appreciated – they don’t blast the AC in common areas, so you’re not freezing when you step inside from Seville’s summer heat. The whole place just feels… sensible, I guess? Like it was designed by people who actually travel and know what’s annoying versus what’s genuinely helpful. With a 9-point rating, they’re clearly doing something right, and after staying there, I completely get why people keep coming back.

  I loved the personal touches like the artwork in the bedroom and around the building. We were offered complimentary coffee while we waited for our taxi. The hosts were super approachable, friendly and helpful. They told us about sites and attractions in Seville and the best transport options, wonderful staff team 😊

  Everything! Safe, spacious, clean, and well-appointed. After several 100degree sizzling days, we were thrilled that there was washer/dryer available for use – including detergent! Also, the WhatsApp responsiveness of staff was very much appreciated!
