You know how some boutique hotels try way too hard to be “authentic” and end up feeling like a theme park? Well, the Jacaranda Catedral is actually the real deal. I mean, you’re literally on Calle Abades – which honestly feels more like a secret alley tucked behind the cathedral than a proper street. The building itself has this gorgeous worn-stone facade that’s probably older than most countries, and when you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of… I don’t know, like you’re staying in someone’s incredibly well-appointed ancestral home rather than a hotel.

The location is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of everything without dealing with the tourist chaos on Avenida de la Constitución. You can hear the cathedral bells (which is either charming or annoying at 7 AM, depending on your perspective), but the rooms are surprisingly quiet – thick walls, I guess. What really got me was how the staff actually knows the neighborhood. Like, when I asked about good tapas spots, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic list but told me exactly when to hit Bar Alfalfa to avoid the crowds and which dishes to order at El Rinconcillo. That kind of local intel is worth its weight in gold, especially in a city where you can easily end up at tourist traps.

The rooms themselves feel authentically Sevillian without being stuffy about it. Exposed beams, beautiful tilework, but also proper air conditioning (trust me, you’ll need it in summer) and surprisingly good Wi-Fi. The bathrooms are small – I mean, it’s a historic building, what do you expect? – but everything works perfectly. Honestly, the whole place just feels… right. It’s the kind of spot where you can stumble back from a late dinner in Santa Cruz, grab a nightcap from their little bar area, and actually feel like you’re living in Seville rather than just visiting it. Plus, having the cathedral literally around the corner means you can pop over for those magic hour photos when the light hits just right, before the tour groups arrive. The 9.5 rating makes total sense – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but for what it is, they’ve absolutely nailed it.
