Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places in Sevilla’s old town, and this apartment on Calle Julio César actually surprised me. The name’s a bit much – “Gran Apartamento de lujo” sounds like something from a cheesy brochure – but honestly, once you’re inside, you get why they went all out with the title. It’s tucked right in the heart of the Casco Antiguo, which means you’re literally surrounded by centuries-old architecture and that maze of narrow streets that makes Sevilla so addictive.

What I really loved about this place is how it manages to feel genuinely luxurious without being stuffy. The apartment’s got these high ceilings that keep things cool even when it’s blazing outside (and trust me, Sevilla in summer is no joke), and the restoration work is really well done – you can tell someone actually cared about preserving the original character. The kitchen’s properly equipped too, which is rare for these historic buildings. I mean, you’re going to want to eat out constantly because the tapas scene around there is incredible, but it’s nice knowing you can make proper coffee in the morning. The WiFi was solid, which matters if you’re trying to get any work done between wandering sessions.

Location-wise, you’re maybe a seven-minute walk to the Cathedral – I timed it because I’m nerdy like that – and the Alcázar is practically around the corner. But here’s what the booking sites don’t tell you: you’re also super close to some of the best local bars that tourists never find. There’s this tiny place on Calle Mateos Gago where they do these incredible montaditos, and honestly, I probably went there four times during my stay. The 8.2 rating seems about right – it’s not perfect (the street can get a bit noisy on weekend nights, and parking is basically impossible unless you use the underground garage near Plaza Nueva), but the charm factor is off the charts. You know what really sold me? The morning light streaming through those traditional shutters, and how you can hear the clip-clop of the horse carriages starting their tourist routes around 10 AM. It’s touristy, sure, but it’s also genuinely magical in that way that only happens in places like this.

  What could be improved: Kitchen was not very well outfitted with equipment for meal prep in the apartment. Balcony windows were wired shut.

  La experiencia en general ha sido positiva, la ubicación inmejorable y el piso está bastante bien en general.
  
  En cuanto a las instalaciones del apartamento, solo mejoraría la cortina del baño principal, que se caía todo el rato.
  
  En cuanto a la empresa que gestiona el apartamento: a la 12:30 de la mañana empezaron a limpiar el apartamento, y hasta las 13:30 por lo menos, no acabaron. Veníamos de madrugar mucho y llovía en Sevilla y nos hubiera gustado descansar un poco a nuestra llegada.

  What could be improved: Las almohadas de la habitación principal demasiado duras (imposible desandar sobre ellas). El Aire Acondicionado parecía no funcionar, estaba en marcha, se escuchaba el ventilador pero no enfriaba.
  En el baño en suite en el techo de la ducha había una mancha muy fea de humedad que hace que no lo valore mejor.

  Appartamento molto curato, comodo e pulito, siamo state 3 notti e ci siamo sentite a casa.

  What could be improved: Camere spaziose e comode, ma pochissimo luminose. Per un soggiorno di pochi giorni vanno comunque benissimo.
