Honestly, when I first walked into KM Cero de Sevilla, I wasn’t expecting much from the entrance on Plaza de la Encarnación – you know how some hotel lobbies can be a bit underwhelming when they’re tucked into historic buildings. But this place actually surprised me. The second floor location means you’re literally floating above one of Seville’s most happening squares, and I mean that in the best way possible. You’ve got the Metropol Parasol (locals still call it Las Setas, the mushrooms) right there casting these wild shadows across the plaza, and the morning light filtering through those wooden slats creates this almost magical atmosphere in the rooms facing the square.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to blend into the old town without feeling like they’re trying too hard to be boutique-y. The rooms are clean and modern – nothing fancy, but everything works, which honestly is more than I can say for some of the pricier places I’ve stayed in Andalusia. The air conditioning actually keeps up with Seville’s brutal summer heat (and trust me, you’ll need it if you’re visiting between June and September), and the windows are double-glazed enough that the plaza activity doesn’t keep you awake. Though I’ll admit, part of me enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of people chatting at the outdoor cafés below – it’s that perfect urban lullaby you get in Spanish cities.

The location is pretty much unbeatable if you want to walk everywhere that matters. You’re maybe three minutes from the Cathedral – I timed it because I’m weird like that – and the Santa Cruz neighborhood is right there when you want to get lost in those narrow streets that every Seville postcard tries to capture. But here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you: you’re also close enough to Calle Regina and Alameda de Hércules that you can easily slip away from the tourist crowds when you need a breather. The staff seemed to get this too – they’d give you directions to places that weren’t just the obvious hits, which I appreciated. Parking is going to be a nightmare if you’re driving (this is old town Seville, after all), but the location makes it worth ditching the car anyway. I mean, why would you want to drive when you can walk to tapas bars that have been perfecting their jamón ibérico for longer than most countries have existed? The 9-point rating makes sense once you realize they’re not trying to be everything to everyone – they’re just really good at being a solid, well-placed hotel in one of Spain’s most walkable cities.

  We love the view, terrace, facilities, number of bedrooms and toilet & and baths, and the proximity to all touristic spots in Seville.
  
  What could be improved: It would have been better if the floor was clean enough that you could walk barefoot. The bed in the other room could have been a little bigger. Lastly, please update your address in Google Maps as it always takes you at the other end of the Setas, though not that far.
