Honestly, when I first walked up to La Casa de San Fernando, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the entrance is pretty understated for a place with such a grand name. But you know what? That’s actually part of its charm. It sits right on San Fernando street in the heart of Seville’s old town, and I mean *right* where you want to be. You can literally see the walls of the Reales Alcázares from some of the rooms (hence the name), which is sort of mind-blowing when you think about it – you’re looking at the same palace walls that have been there for centuries.

The location is what really makes this place special, though the hotel itself is pretty solid too. I mean, it’s a proper 4-star setup with all the things you’d expect, but what caught me off guard was how quiet it manages to be despite being smack in the middle of everything. The building has this nice thick-walled construction that keeps the street noise down – something you definitely appreciate when the tapas crowds are wandering around at midnight. Speaking of which, you’re about a two-minute walk from some of the best little bars in the Barrio Santa Cruz. There’s this tiny place called El Rinconcillo just around the corner that’s been serving jamón since 1670 (seriously), and the hotel staff actually knows about spots like that, which tells you they’re not just going through the motions.

What I really liked was how the whole experience felt… well, not touristy, if that makes sense. The front desk folks speak English perfectly fine, but they’re clearly local and know their stuff about the city. They pointed me toward the cathedral entrance that has shorter lines (enter through the Puerta del Perdón if you’re wondering), and mentioned that the Alcázares gets crazy busy around 11 AM but mellows out after 3 PM. Little things like that make a difference. The rooms themselves are comfortable – nothing fancy, but the AC works great (crucial in Seville summers), and the beds are actually good quality. I stayed in one of the rooms with partial Alcázares views, and while it’s not a full panorama, you can definitely see the palace gardens and walls, especially from the higher floors. The breakfast is decent, nothing revolutionary, but they do proper Spanish tortilla and the coffee is strong enough to get you going. Only minor complaint? The WiFi can be a bit spotty in some rooms, but honestly, you’re in one of the most beautiful cities in Spain – maybe put the phone down for a bit. The whole area is perfectly walkable, and you’ll want to wander anyway.

  Nice, clean, close to the main attractions. Nice, cozy apartment. I would stay there again.
  
  What could be improved: Water pressure and mix of hot cold water could be better. Toilet seat in one of the bathrooms needs replacing. Toaster does not work as one of the elements is worn out.
