You know what caught me off guard about La Sillería de Arfe? Walking up Calle Arfe, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the narrow street – it’s one of those tucked-away corners of Seville’s old town where you might miss the entrance if you’re not paying attention. But then you step inside and there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cared about creating something special here. The lobby feels intimate rather than grand, which I mean, works perfectly for a boutique place like this. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Cathedral – and I’m talking about the actual Cathedral, not some distant view of it – so the location is pretty incredible for exploring the historic center on foot.

What really won me over was how the hotel manages to feel authentically Sevillian without trying too hard. The rooms have this lovely mix of traditional Andalusian touches and modern comfort that doesn’t feel forced or theme-park-ish. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood; when I asked about avoiding tourist traps for dinner, they pointed me toward a tiny tapas place on Calle Mateos Gago that I never would’ve found otherwise (and honestly, it was better than half the places the guidebooks recommend). The building itself has character – you can tell it’s got history in these walls, with those thick stone floors that keep things cool even when Seville’s summer heat gets brutal. Speaking of which, the air conditioning actually works properly, which isn’t always a given in these converted historic buildings.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t the kind of place where you’ll find a massive pool or extensive spa facilities. It’s more about the experience of staying in the heart of old Seville, where you can hear the clip-clop of horse carriages in the morning and the cathedral bells marking the hours. The breakfast is solid, nothing revolutionary, but they serve it in this lovely interior courtyard that catches the morning light just right. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving (the streets here weren’t exactly designed for cars), but they’ll help you figure out the nearest garage. I’d say the 8.6 rating feels about right – it’s genuinely good at what it sets out to do, which is giving you an authentic taste of historic Seville without sacrificing comfort. If you’re the type who wants to be able to walk to the Alcázar, wander through the Jewish Quarter, and stumble back to your room after evening tapas without dealing with taxis or long walks, this place delivers on that front beautifully.

  We loved the location and the ease of check in and the beds were very comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: There was no cutlery to be found anywhere! The streets were quite noisy until 4am on Sat evening so def made it hard to sleep.

  Great location, easy to walk to many landmarks. A little noisy at night, but not too bad. Apartment was very light and airy. Available were complimentary toiletries, plus coffee pods/herbal tea. Plenty of fluffy towels
  
  What could be improved: We were on the third floor, so walking up a lot of marble steps. We knew this, so didn't mind, but might not suit everyone. Would be useful to have shelves in the wardrobes.

  Views of the cathedral from the apartment and upper terrace. Excellent location, only minutes walk away with great choice of bars and food places nearby. Beautiful decor and lovely hot tub – pretty much the highest penthouse in the area.
