Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a place called “Leyenda del Hereje” – the Legend of the Heretic – but this little gem on Calle San Juan de la Palma turned out to be one of those discoveries that makes you feel like you’ve cracked some local code. The name alone tells you this isn’t your typical chain hotel, and stepping inside, you immediately get why it earned that 8.8 rating.

The location is actually perfect if you want to be in Seville’s old town without dealing with the absolute chaos of the main tourist drags. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Cathedral and Alcázar, but San Juan de la Palma itself is this quieter street where you’ll see more locals heading to work than tour groups taking selfies. I mean, you can still hear the clip-clop of horse carriages in the distance, but it’s not right outside your window at 7 AM – which, trust me, matters when you’re trying to sleep off all that excellent Andalusian wine. The street has this lovely lived-in feel with little tapas bars tucked between residential buildings, and there’s something charming about how the hotel blends right into the neighborhood fabric instead of announcing itself with some massive sign.

What really won me over was how they’ve managed to honor the building’s history without making it feel like a museum you’re sleeping in. The renovation is thoughtful – you get modern comfort (the AC actually works, hallelujah) but with these beautiful original details like exposed brick and traditional tiles that remind you you’re in a 16th-century building in the heart of Andalusia. The rooms aren’t huge, but honestly, who cares when you’re spending most of your time exploring the city? Plus, the staff actually knows the neighborhood – when I asked about finding good jamón ibérico, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward some tourist trap but gave me specific recommendations for the local market stalls his family uses. That kind of insider knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to eat like a local rather than just hitting the obvious spots. The whole experience feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find as more boutique hotels pop up and lose that personal touch in favor of Instagram-perfect aesthetics.

  Excellent location, clean apartment, and a very comfortable bed. The host was always available and communication was great. Big plus for the option to leave luggage before check-in.

  Modern well appointed rooms. Excellent location close to the old town.
  
  What could be improved: Pool seems smaller than pictured – basically a cold hot tub which is fine. The communication from staff was very efficient but possibly they send too many messages especially mentioning check out time.

  Great stay, can only recommend. Spotless clean, spacious, quiet neighborhood, smooth check-in, well equipped, comfortable bed and powerful AC, great location. Very helpful Mara who provided all information about stay and was very responsive and helpful. The terasse on the roof with the pool is a great plus.

  Pleasant rooms, clean, airy and a decent space. Good location. It could be noisy. There were several outside small bars below our room and a play area, but nice to watch the interaction.
  The apartment itself was all key codes to get in and then key after. Pretty central to plenty of tapas bars. The food and drinks were good value in the ones we tried.
  Staff online were helpful.
  
  What could be improved: Reception/assistance online, only saw maintenance guy whole stay of 8 days, not even a cleaner. However, discussion over email, was polite. Not enough coat hangers or hooks for coats etc easy fix. Smoke alarm was taped up, they came and sorted. Could do with a map to study in the room for us oldies without internet. Could be noisy, people dragging furniture above at 2am, bars outside, etc. but overall good.

  Almost perfect! Very good location in the heart of the city. Very nice and responsive staff. Bright, clean and spacious room, comfortable bed and a kitchenette, equipped with everything you need for a nice stay. Renovated building with an elevator and a terrace for guests.

  It was a 5 minute stroll from the Mushrooms, everything was handy. It’s a pity a book isn’t handy for comments, I looked for a supermarket to buy basics a there was one around the corner from the church.
  Little tips are a great touch.
  Restaurants and bars everywhere. Handy for the Catherdal.
  Lovely hot shower!
  
  What could be improved: The rough sleepers outside, 3 x men. I didn’t feel threatened at all, but did feel uncomfortable as I was traveling without my

  Great location would definitely stay here again. We loved the buzz of the beautiful square , when you closed the doors it was super quiet. It has everything you need in the perfect location. Roof terrace is a bonus.
