Hotel Description

So I stumbled across Luxe Carlos Cañal during my third trip to Seville, and honestly, I wish I’d found it sooner. It’s tucked away on the first floor of this charming building right in the heart of the old town – you know, the kind of place where you’re literally walking on stones that have been there for centuries. The thing is, when you’re staying at Calle Carlos Cañal 44, you’re not just visiting Seville’s historic center, you’re actually living in it.

What struck me first was how the place manages to feel both intimate and polished at the same time. I mean, it’s officially a 3-star hotel, but the attention to detail feels way more thoughtful than some of those big chain places I’ve stayed at. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day – which sounds small, but when you’re navigating a new city and trying to figure out whether you should walk to the Cathedral or grab a taxi (walk, by the way, it’s maybe eight minutes), having someone who genuinely wants to help makes all the difference. They pointed me toward this little tapas place around the corner that I never would have found otherwise, and well, let’s just say I ended up there three nights in a row.

The location is pretty much perfect if you want to explore on foot. You’re close enough to hear the cathedral bells in the morning, but far enough from the main tourist drag that you’re not dealing with crowds of people taking selfies outside your window at 7 AM. The narrow streets around there can be a bit tricky if you’re arriving by car – I’d honestly recommend taking a taxi from the train station rather than trying to navigate the old town’s maze with luggage. But once you’re settled in, everything feels walkable. The Alcázar is right there, the Jewish Quarter is literally around the corner, and when you need a break from sightseeing, you can duck into one of those hidden courtyards nearby where locals actually hang out. The whole area has this amazing smell of orange blossoms in spring, though I should mention it can get pretty warm in the summer months – but then again, that’s when everyone’s taking siestas anyway. What really won me over was how the place strikes this balance between being professionally run (that 9.2 rating isn’t an accident) while still feeling like you’re staying somewhere with actual character and soul.

The location was brilliant. The appartment was clean and spacious. José was very friendly and helpful 😊

What could be improved: The front door to the building was a little temperamental to get into at times and the IKEA day bed was a little uncomfortable to sleep on but other than that we had a great stay!

  • Jill from Australia – 26 May 2025 (8/10)

    Location, spacious, comfort

What could be improved: Only 2 mugs provided, one bedroom was very noisy

What could be improved: One of the beds was for children

    Spacious and great location

  • Maria from Canada – 8 February 2025 (8/10)

Location is great and Jose is amazingly helpful.

What could be improved: The beds in one of the rooms is not the good. Cuts a twin bed with pull out which makes the room very tight for a couple to move around . Mattress is quite thin. This apartment is more suitable for 4 people or 5 with children.

Totally satisfied with the accommodation. The owner was very responsive to questions, etc., leading up to our arrival and worked with our group when our airline arrival time was delayed. Her son, Ramon, met us at the apartment upon arrival and gave us an overview of the property, recommendations on the local area, etc. There was plenty of room for the five individuals traveling in our group, and the location was convenient, with a small grocery store down the street and Arsenal Locker just down the street, where we stored our luggage after check-out at 1100, until our actual departure later in the eve; it was very convenient to have this nearby as it allowed us to take advantage of the Hop on Hop Off bus, visit the Torre de Oro, and grab a bite to eat at San Eloy La Patio without having to carry around our luggage. The apartment had basically everything needed for our stay, hot water was plentiful, and the Wi-Fi worked great. We would definitely recommend this place.

What could be improved: Nothing derogatory to report.
