Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Luxe Castelar 19? It’s tucked right into this narrow cobblestone street that feels like stepping back a few centuries, but the moment you walk through those doors, everything shifts. I mean, they’ve somehow managed to blend all that old Seville charm with this really sophisticated modern touch that doesn’t feel forced or overdone.

The location is honestly perfect if you actually want to experience Seville rather than just see it. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Plaza del Salvador – which, by the way, is where locals hang out for evening drinks, not just tourists taking photos. The cathedral’s bell tower? You’ll hear it throughout the day, but it’s more charming than annoying (well, maybe not at 7 AM if you’re recovering from a night in Triana). What I loved most was being able to walk down Calle Sierpes for shopping, then duck into one of those tiny tapas bars on Calle Alemanes that most people never find. The staff actually knows these places and will give you proper recommendations – not just the tourist traps.

The rooms themselves feel genuinely luxurious without being stuffy. The beds are seriously comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms have this rainfall shower situation that’s actually functional, not just for show. Here’s something practical – the air conditioning works really well, which matters more than you think during those brutal July afternoons when even the locals hide indoors. The soundproofing is pretty good too, though you’ll still catch some street life sounds, but honestly? That’s part of the charm of staying in the old town. Oh, and parking – they’ve got a deal with a nearby garage because there’s obviously no way you’re parking on Calle Castelar itself. The front desk sorted it out without any hassle, which saved me from driving in circles through those medieval streets.

What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail that you notice after you’ve been there a day or two. The concierge (there’s this woman, Ana, who’s been in Seville forever) actually listens when you tell her what you’re interested in. She sent me to this incredible ceramics workshop in the Macarena neighborhood that I never would have found otherwise. The breakfast is proper Spanish – good jamón, local cheeses, fresh orange juice that tastes like they squeezed it five minutes ago. They don’t do that weird international buffet thing that makes every hotel breakfast taste the same.

I’ll be honest, it’s not cheap, but you’re getting what you pay for here. The 9.5 rating makes sense when you’re actually staying there – it’s those little things like having your room ready early after a long flight, or the way they remember your coffee preference after the second day. If you want to stay somewhere that feels authentically Sevillano but doesn’t make you sacrifice comfort, this is your spot. Just book early during Semana Santa or the April Fair unless you want to pay double and compete with half of Spain for a room.

Reviews

  • Paul from Spain – 2 May 2025 (10/10)

The apartment was exactly as described. Very large, well laid out and well decorated and spotlessly clean. Jose the owner was extremely helpful especially as when we were driving to Seville he advised us that there had been a national blackout and to be careful driving through Seville as all the traffic lights were not working. The location is fantastic. A beautiful street in Central Seville within walking distance to most things.

What could be improved: There was nothing to not like.

  • Moira from United Kingdom – 17 April 2025 (10/10)

Had everything we needed. Loved the balcony.

Very large, spacious and comfortable, apartment in an excellent location in the old town, minutes walk to the main attractions. Met by Jose who showed us round the flat and sent us a whatsApp with suggestions for restaurants, visits, etc with links to relevant sites – made life very easy !!

A lovely central and spacious apartment. Very comfortable beds and furniture. Fantastic bathrooms and kitchen. So easy to walk to the main attractions – cathedral, alcazar, las setas, plaza de espana, waterfront.

Angela was so welcoming and friendly as well. Made for a lovely stay in a beautiful city. Muy bien!

What could be improved: Parking is very tight for a Van. You can park it and it will be a hassle.

  • Sarah from United Kingdom – 18 June 2024 (10/10)

  • Bee from Australia – 13 June 2024 (9/10)

We have all we need. Beds are comfortable too. Good shower gels and shampoo provided.

Jose is a gracious agent. He took the time to show us the house and the day we checked out, there was a taxi strike to the airport. He offered us the option of a ride.

What could be improved: It is a long apartment. A booster will help with wifi connectivity in the bedrooms.

  • Feng from United States – 31 May 2024 (9/10)

    Convenient and quiet

  • Trigwell from United Kingdom – 14 April 2024 (10/10)

We had a great time at Luxe Castelar, we are four friends touring around Southern Spain and Seville was our first stop. The apartment was beautifully presented and plenty of room for all of us. The location is excellent, right in the middle of the city yet situated down a quiet street away from noise and traffic. Everything was perfect.

    What could be improved: Nothing
